Katip Sinan Qelebi Mosque
The Mosque Katip Sinan Qelebi ( sq, Xhamia e Çatip Sinanit), also known as "Katip Çelebi" (), is located on the Adem Jashari Street in Prizren, Kosovo. ''Katip'' means "secretary" in Turkish. It may be named after Katip Çelebi but it also may be named like the Plaošnik mosque in Ohrid, which was named after Sinaneddin Yusuf Çelebi, short form Sinan Çelebi, from the Ohrizâde family. Sunni Islam () is the largest branch of Islam, followed by 85–90% of the world's Muslims. Its name comes from the word '' Sunnah'', referring to the tradition of Muhammad. Plaošnik or simply Plaoš ( mk, Плаошник, Плаош) is an archaeological site and holy place in Ohrid, 250 meters below Samuil's Fortress. Islam in Kosovo has a long-standing tradition dating back to the Ottoman Empire, Ottoman conquest of the Balkans. Before the Battle of Kosovo in 1389, the entire Balkan region had been Christianized by both the Roman Empire, Western and Byzantine Empire, Eastern Roman Empire.
