Kathryn Evans (swimmer)
Kathryn Evans (born 5 August 1981) is an English former competitive swimmer who represented Great Britain in the Olympic Games. Evans specialised in freestyle and individual medley events. She is a two-time Olympian (2000 and 2004), and a double British champion in the 200 m individual medley (2001 and 2002). Evans also played for Nova Centurion Swim Club in Nottingham, under head coach Bill Furniss. Evans is the cousin of late rower Acer Nethercott, who competed in the men's eight at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing. Evans made her Olympic debut, as a member of Team GB, at the 2000 Summer Olympics in Sydney, where she competed in the 200 m individual medley. Swimming in heat five, she rounded out a field of eight swimmers to last place and twenty-fourth overall in 2:19.41, just 5.58 seconds behind defending Olympic champion Yana Klochkova of Ukraine. Georgina Anne Lee (born 14 August 1981) is a female English former competitive swimmer. Swimming career Lee represented Great Britain in the Olympics and European championships, and competed for England in the Commonwealth Games. Lee won gold, silver, and bronze medals at the 2002 Commonwealth Games. She was also a bronze medallist at the European SC Championships in 2001. Lee represented Great Britain at both the 2000 Summer Olympics in Sydney and the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens. In Sydney she reached the semifinal in the 200-metre butterfly, breaking the British Record and finishing in 10th place. Katy Sexton
Katy Sexton, MBE (born 21 July 1981) is a former Olympic swimmer from Great Britain. She became the first British swimmer to win a World Championship title, when she won the Women's 200m Back at the 2003 World Championships. She is twice an Olympian and has represented Great Britain in four World Championships, the first in 1998 when she was 16, and in three Commonwealth Games. She was given the MBE for services to swimming in the 2004 New Year Honours list. Early life Katy was born in Portsmouth. She attended Springfield School from 1994 to 1998. The women's 4×100 metre medley relay took place on 20–21 August at the Olympic Aquatic Centre of the Athens Olympic Sports Complex in Athens, Greece. The Australians reinforced their claim to become the strongest women's team in the world with a convincing triumph over their American rivals in the event. Giaan Rooney, Leisel Jones, Petria Thomas, and Jodie Henry broke almost a full second off the world record set by Team USA in 2000, stopping the clock at 3:57.32. At the start of the race, the U.S. team got off to a flying start in the backstroke, until the Australians reeled them in on the butterfly leg. Lisa Chapman (born 18 August 1984) is an English former competitive swimmer who represented Great Britain in the Olympics and European championships. She competed internationally in freestyle and individual medley swimming events. She qualified as an Olympian and won a silver medal at the European Short Course Championships in 2004. Chapman attended Loughborough University, where she also competed for the swimming team under head coach Ian Armiger. Chapman qualified for the women's 4×100 m freestyle relay, as a member of Team GB at the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens. She finished fourth in the 100 m freestyle from the Olympic trials in Sheffield, posting a relay entry time of 56.17. Karen Pickering
Karen Denise Pickering, MBE (born 19 December 1971) is a former freestyle swimmer from Great Britain. Swimming career She made her international senior debut in 1986. She was first selected to represent her country at the European Junior Championships. Pickering competed in four consecutive Summer Olympics, starting in 1992. She won her first medal in 1993, at the inaugural 1993 FINA Short Course World Championships in Palma de Mallorca, where she won the gold medal in the 200 m freestyle. With that performance Pickering became Britain's first swimming world champion. Melanie Jayne Marshall (born 12 January 1982) is a former British swimmer. She has won numerous medals for her country as well as being a swimming coach of the year for her work with Adam Peaty in Derby and later Loughborough. Early life She was born in Boston, Lincolnshire, brought up in the nearby village of Wrangle. She attended the Giles School in Old Leake. Career A long lasting international career started at the 1995 European Youth Olympics in Bath, where she won four gold medals.
