Katy Sexton
Katy Sexton, MBE (born 21 July 1981) is a former Olympic swimmer from Great Britain. She became the first British swimmer to win a World Championship title, when she won the Women's 200m Back at the 2003 World Championships. She is twice an Olympian and has represented Great Britain in four World Championships, the first in 1998 when she was 16, and in three Commonwealth Games. She was given the MBE for services to swimming in the 2004 New Year Honours list. Early life Katy was born in Portsmouth. She attended Springfield School from 1994 to 1998. It was there that she learned to swim and where she returned to train for Olympic trials in early 2012, but can remember splashing around in pools when she was about three years old. 2003 FINA World Championships
The 10th FINA World Aquatics Championships were held July 12–27, 2003 in Barcelona, Spain. The championships featured competition in all 5 of FINA's disciplines: Swimming, Diving, Synchronised swimming, Water Polo, and Open Water Swimming. Karen Denise Pickering, MBE (born 19 December 1971) is a former freestyle swimmer from Great Britain. Swimming career She made her international senior debut in 1986. She was first selected to represent her country at the European Junior Championships. Pickering competed in four consecutive Summer Olympics, starting in 1992. She won her first medal in 1993, at the inaugural 1993 FINA Short Course World Championships in Palma de Mallorca, where she won the gold medal in the 200 m freestyle. With that performance Pickering became Britain's first swimming world champion. Susan Rolph (born 15 May 1978) is a female former freestyle and medley swimmer from Great Britain. Swimming career Rolph was one of the dominating forces in the 1990s of British women's swimming. Her Commonwealth Games medal haul consists of three gold, one silver and two bronze medals. She represented England in four events, winning a gold medal in the 4 x 100 metres freestyle relay, at the 1994 Commonwealth Games in Victoria, Canada. Four years later she represented England in five events and gained a medal in all five including two gold medals, at the 1998 Commonwealth Games in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Swimming World Cup
The FINA Swimming World Cup is an international series of short course () swimming meets organized by FINA, the International Federation for swimming. Launched in 1988, the FINA Swimming World Cup gathers world-class swimmers in a series of two-day meets organised between August and November each year. Across nine locations, the circuit is structured in clusters (Middle East, Europe and Asia) and distributes a total of prize money reaching US$2.5 million. Currently, the overall first, second, and third-place winners are awarded prize money.
