Kathmandu International Mountain Film Festival
The Kathmandu International Mountain Film Festival (KIMFF) has been held in Kathmandu since 2000. Starting out as a biennial festival, KIMFF turned annual and competitive in 2007. KIMFF typically takes places around 11 December to coincide with the International Mountain Day. Modes KIMFF uses cinemas, other visual art forms, workshops and discussion forums to inform and educate as wide and as large a variety of audience on particular issues within the duration of the festival. After the completion of festival in Kathmandu, a special package of films is taken to various locations within Nepal as a part of ''Travelling KIMFF''. Extreme sports, adventure, religion, or distinct cultural practices, human beings relate with mountains in a myriad of ways. Mountain Day
Mountain Day refers to three different and unrelated events: (1) Mountain Day, a student celebration in some colleges in the United States in which classes are cancelled without prior notice, and the student body heads to the mountains or a park, (2) International Mountain Day, held each year on 11 December, which was established by the UN General Assembly in 2003 to encourage sustainable development in mountains, and (3) Mountain Day, a national holiday in Japan as of 2016.In 2023 mountain day will happen on August 11th. The Banff Centre Mountain Film Festival is an international film competition and annual presentation of films and documentaries about mountain culture, sports, environment and adventure & exploration. It was launched in 1976 as ''The Banff Festival of Mountain Films'' by The Banff Centre and is held every fall in Banff, Alberta. Autrans
Autrans () is a former commune in the Isère department in the Rhône-Alpes region of south-eastern France. On 1 January 2016, it was merged into the new commune of Autrans-Méaudre-en-Vercors. At the 1968 Winter Olympics in Grenoble, it hosted the biathlon, cross-country skiing, Nordic combined, and the ski jumping normal hill events.
