Kathleen Fox (aviator)
Kathleen "Kathy" Carol Fox (born 24 December 1951) is a Canadian parachutist, pilot, flight instructor, air traffic controller, and business executive. After spending over 30 years in air traffic control, she was appointed chair of the Canadian Transportation Safety Board in 2014. In 2016, she was inducted into Canada's Aviation Hall of Fame. Early life and education Fox was born on 24 December 1951 in Montreal, Quebec, and while still young showed an interest in flying. When she was only five, she used to pretend she was flying helicopters. She took her first flight when she was 13 in a Cessna in Cartierville, Quebec. Three years later, in 1967, an uncle paid for her first flying lesson at the Calgary Flying Club. But then she decided it was more important for her to study than to take flying lessons. Paul Tissandier
Paul Tissandier (19 February 1881 – 11 March 1945) was a French aviator. Biography Tissandier was the son of aviator Gaston Tissandier and nephew of Albert Tissandier, Gaston's brother. Tissandier began his flying career as a hot air balloon pilot and later moved to airships and finally to airplanes. He was a pilot-pupil of Wilbur Wright. Together with Count Charles de Lambert, he was involved in the construction of hydro-gliders. The ''Aero Club Paul Tissandier'' based at the Saint-Cyr-l'École airfield was named in his honour. The Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal (french: Médaille du jubilé de diamant de la reine Elizabeth II) or The Queen's Diamond Jubilee Medal was a commemorative medal created in 2012 to mark the 60th anniversary of Queen Elizabeth II's accession in 1952. There are four versions of the medal: one issued by the United Kingdom, another by Canada, the third for the Caribbean realms of Antigua and Barbuda, the Bahamas, Barbados, Grenada, Jamaica, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Saint Lucia, and Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, and the fourth issued by Papua New Guinea. Nav Canada (styled as NAV CANADA) is a privately run, not-for-profit corporation that owns and operates Canada's civil air navigation system (ANS). It was established in accordance with the ''Civil Air Navigation Services Commercialization Act'' (ANS Act). Rockcliffe Flying Club
The Rockcliffe Flying Club is a non-profit flying club based at Ottawa/Rockcliffe Airport in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. History The club was started when Wing Commander Norman Hoye arrived at RCAF Station Rockcliffe with plans to create a military flying club on the base. The club commenced operations on 28 August 1961 with two Aeroncas. At that time the base was an operational RCAF air base with hangars and a control tower. These were all closed when the base was shut down in 1964, but the club remained on the airfield, providing flight instruction and aircraft rental to military personnel and civilians. Montreal Area Control Centre is one of 7 Area Control Centres in Canada operated by Nav Canada. Montreal ACC is located in a building on the outskirts of Montréal–Pierre Elliott Trudeau International Airport. From this ACC, air traffic controllers provide en route and terminal control services to aircraft in the Montreal Flight Information Region (FIR). The Montreal FIR airspace covers the entire province of Quebec (with the exception of the Bagotville Military Terminal Control Area), parts of eastern Ontario, the eastern shore of James Bay, Hudson Bay, the western section of Newfoundland and Labrador and the Nunavut region that includes Iqaluit. Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu () is a city in eastern Montérégie in the Canadian province of Quebec, about southeast of Montreal. The airline transport pilot license (ATPL), or in the United States of America, an airline transport pilot (ATP) certificate is the highest level of aircraft pilot certificate.
