Katarina Taikon
Katarina Taikon-Langhammer (29 July 1932 – 30 December 1995) was a Swedish Romany activist, leader in the civil rights movement, writer and actor, from the Kalderash caste. She was the sister of Rosa Taikon. Biography During Taikon's childhood Romani still lived in camps in Sweden, and had to move often, which made it hard for the children to get any school education. Taikon did not learn how to read and write until she was in her teens. In 1946, Taikon was married off to a man. In 1948, a 16-year-old Taikon participated in Arne Sucksdorff's documentary short film ''Uppbrott'', where she danced around a camp fire. The filming of the documentary made it possible for Taikon to divorce her husband. For the next decade, Taikon acted in several Swedish motion pictures. Taikon dedicated her life to improving conditions for Romani people in Sweden and throughout the world. Örebro

Kalderash People
The Kalderash are a subgroup of the Romani people. They were traditionally coppersmiths and metal workers and speak a number of Romani dialects grouped together under the term Kalderash Romani, a sub-group of Vlax Romani. The Kalderash of the Balkans and Central Europe, in addition to the Gitanos and Manouche/Sinti, are seen as one of the three main confederations ( rom, natsiya) of Romani people in Europe by certain ethnographers. The Kalderash are recognized as the most numerous confederation of the three. Each main confederation is further split up into two or more subgroups ( rom, vitsa) based on a combination of factors such as occupation, ancestry, or territorial origin. ''Singoalla'' is a 1949 Swedish–French film directed by Christian-Jaque, starring Viveca Lindfors and Alf Kjellin. It is based on the romantic novel ''The Wind Is My Lover'' by Viktor Rydberg, which in turn is based on a medieval legend of the love between a gypsy and a nobleman. It was produced in three language versions: Swedish, French, and English. The Swedish and French versions were entitled ''Singoalla''. The English version had three titles: ''Gypsy Fury'' (USA), ''The Wind is My Lover'' (UK), and ''The Mask and the Sword'' (UK).
