Katarina Roxon
Katarina Mirabelle Roxon (born April 5, 1993) is a Canadian Paralympic swimmer from Canada. In 2016 she won a gold medal in the 100 metre breaststroke at the 2016 Summer Paralympics in Rio de Janeiro and was the only representative of Canada there in S9, SB8 and SM9 disability classifications. She won a bronze medal at the 2020 Summer Paralympics, in Women's 34pts 4x100m relay. Career Roxon finished on top in the 100-metre breaststroke finals. Her father and coach Leonard Roxon left Vellore-India for Canada with his wife Lisa in 1990. She has bagged several medals in various championships. In 2017 she swam 200-metre individual medley at the Canadian Swimming Championships and won two medals, one of which was gold. Kippens
Kippens ( Canada 2021 Census population 1,842) is a town located in the province of Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada on the west coast of the island of Newfoundland. The town of Kippens is situated on the West Coast of the province of Newfoundland. The town was granted its municipality status on December 31, 1968. Kippens borders the town of Stephenville to the east, the town of Port au Port East to the west, and St. George's Bay to the south. 2023 World Para Swimming Championships
The 2023 World Para Swimming Championships was the 12th edition of the World Para Swimming Championships, an international swimming competition for swimmers with disabilities. It was held in Manchester, Great Britain from 31 July to 6 August 2023. This was the third time that Great Britain have hosted the World Para Swimming Championships with Glasgow hosting in 2015 and London hosting in 2019. The World Championships serves as a qualifier for the 2024 Summer Paralympics where two top swimmers in each individual medal event final will be automatically selected to compete at the Paralympics. As a swimmer can only hold one quota, which makes them eligible for all events in their classification for which they have a qualifying time, unrequired quotas are returned to be distributed later. Vellore (English: ), also spelt as Velur (), is a city and the administrative headquarters of Vellore district in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu. It is located on the banks of the Palar River in the northeastern part of Tamil Nadu and is separated into four zones that are further subdivided into 60 wards, covering an area of 87.915 km2 and housing a population of 423,425 as reported by the 2001 census. S9 (classification)
S9, SB8, SM9 are disability swimming classifications used for categorizing swimmers based on their level of disability. Swimmers in this class generally have severe weakness in one leg. This class includes a number of different disabilities including people with amputations and cerebral palsy. The classification is governed by the International Paralympic Committee, and competes at the Paralympic Games. Definition This classification is for swimming. In the classification title, S represents Freestyle, Backstroke and Butterfly strokes. SB means breaststroke. SM means individual medley. Para swimming is an adaptation of the sport of swimming for athletes with disabilities. Para swimmers compete at the Summer Paralympic Games and at other sports competitions throughout the world. The sport is governed by the International Paralympic Committee. Both men and women compete in para swimming, racing against competitors of their own gender.
