Ekatarina Velika ( sr-Cyrl, Екатарина Велика, en, Catherine the Great), sometimes referred to as EKV for short, was a Yugoslav rock band from Belgrade, being one of the most successful and influential Yugoslav music acts. Initially called Katarina II ( sr-Cyrl, Катарина II, en, Catherine II), the band had built up a devoted following that greatly intensified and expanded after the death of its frontman Milan Mladenović in 1994, which caused the band to dissolve. The group's core consisted of singer and guitarist Milan Mladenović, keyboardist Margita Stefanović and bassist Bojan Pečar, with other members mostly remaining for comparatively shorter periods. Milan Mladenović
Milan Mladenović ( sr-Cyrl, Милан Младеновић; 21 September 1958 – 5 November 1994) was a Serbian and Yugoslavian musician best known as the frontman of the Yugoslav art rock band Ekatarina Velika. Early life Born to Serbian father Spasa from Kruševac and Croatian mother Danica from Makarska, Milan's first years were spent in Zagreb, PR Croatia, where his father, an officer in the Yugoslav People's Army, was stationed at the time. Consequently, Milan grew up wherever it was that his dad's job took the family. In total, it ended up being three cities. When he was six, Milan's family moved to Sarajevo where he spent a notable part of his childhood. Eventually in 1970, they moved to Belgrade just short of his 12th birthday. Rimtutituki ( sr-cyr, Римтутитуки; anagram for ''Turim ti kitu'', trans. ''I put my dick in you'') was a Serbian rock supergroup featuring Ekatarina Velika, Električni Orgazam and Partibrejkers members. The band was formed as an anti-war project during the Yugoslav Wars and 1991–1992 anti-war protests in Belgrade. Ivan Vdović
Ivan "Ivica" Vdović ( sr-cyr, Иван "Ивица" Вдовић; 14 March 1961 – 25 September 1992), also known as Vd ( sr-cyr, Вд), was a Serbian musician, drummer of Yugoslav rock bands such as Suncokret, Šarlo Akrobata and Katarina II. In his junior year of high school, Vdović became a member of the band Limunovo drvo led by Milan Mladenović. He later played drums in Bora Đorđević's band Suncokret but became famous as the drummer of Šarlo Akrobata whose other two members were Mladenović and Dušan Kojić. He stayed with Šarlo Akrobata from April 1980 to October 1981, and then joined Mladenović to form Katarina II together with Bojan Pečar, Gagi Mihajlović and Margita Stefanović. After Mihajlović left the band, the name was changed to Ekatarina Velika but Vdović soon left the band in 1985. The same year, Vdović was tested HIV positive. Grupa I ( sr-Cyrl, Група И; trans. ''Group I'') was a Serbian and former Yugoslav new wave band from Belgrade, active in the late 1970s and early 1980s. History The band was formed in January 1979 by guitarists Dejan Kostić and Predrag Mijović, drummer Branko "Mango" Kuštrin (former Tarkus member), bassist Branko Kojić (former Zdravo member), and vocalist Branko Bogićević. The lineup recorded their debut single "Sestra Vera" ("Sister Vera"), with "Miris ulice" ("The Smell of the Street") as the single B-side, released by PGP-RTB in 1979, after which Bogićević left the band, and bassist Kojić took over the vocal duties. Du Du A
Du Du A ( sr-Cyrl, Ду Ду А) was a Serbian and Yugoslav alternative rock band formed in Belgrade in 1981. Formed by Dejan Kostić (vocals, guitar, bass guitar) and Vuk Vujačić (saxophone), and soon joined by Zoran Zagorčić (vocals, keyboards), the band initially performed a combination of new wave, synth-pop, funk and reggae, also becoming pioneers of rap music in Yugoslavia with their early recordings. The band released their debut album, ''Primitivni ples'', in 1982, gaining attention of the media and significant mainstream popularity. However, despite the band continuing to record and perform during the following years, with the exception of a 7-inch single, they did not release any new material until the mid-1990s. In 1998, Zagorčić died of injuries he got in a car accident. Dragomir "Gagi" Mihajlović ( sr-Cyrl, Драгомир Михајловић "Гаги") is a Serbian rock guitarist. Musical career Mihajlović started his career as a guitarist in a progressive rock group Limunovo Drvo, which, formed in 1978 by himself and Milan Mladenović (guitar, vocals), after performing for two years moved towards new wave, with the arrival of Dušan Kojić "Koja" (bass, vocals) and Ivan Vdović "VD" (drums, backing vocals). In April 1980, Limunovo Drvo opened for Pankrti at Belgrade SKC. After the performance, Mihajlović left the band the rest decided to change the name to Šarlo Akrobata.
