Kasuga Shrine
is a Shinto shrine in Nara, Nara Prefecture, Japan. It is the shrine of the Fujiwara family, established in 768 CE and rebuilt several times over the centuries. The interior is famous for its many bronze lanterns, as well as the many stone lanterns that lead up the shrine. The architectural style ''Kasuga-zukuri'' takes its name from Kasuga Shrine's ''honden'' (sanctuary). The Torii at Kasuga-taisha is one of the oldest in Shinto and helped influence the style of Torii seen across much of Japan. Kasuga Shrine, and the Kasugayama Primeval Forest near it, are registered as a UNESCO World Heritage Site as part of the "Historic Monuments of Ancient Nara". The path to Kasuga Shrine passes through a deer park. In the park, deer are able to roam freely and are believed to be sacred messengers of the Shinto gods that inhabit the shrine and surrounding mountainous terrain. is a Japanese comedian best known as the '' boke'' half of the comedy duo Audrey alongside Masayasu Wakabayashi. On stage, he usually wears a pink vest and white pants. Lady Kasuga
was a Japanese noble lady and politician from a prominent Japanese samurai family of the Azuchi–Momoyama and Edo periods. Born Saitō Fuku (斉藤福), she was a daughter of Saitō Toshimitsu (who was a retainer of Akechi Mitsuhide). She was the wet nurse of the third Tokugawa shōgun Iemitsu. Lady Kasuga was one of the best politicians in the Edo period. She stood in front of negotiations with the Imperial Court and contributed to the stabilization of the Tokugawa Shogunate. Kasuga was one of the most powerful figures in the Ōoku (the quarters in Edo Castle where the women related to the Shogun family resided) . Kasugayama Castle
is a Sengoku period ''yamashiro''-style Japanese castle located in the Nakayashiki neighborhood of the city of Jōetsu, Niigata prefecture. It was the primary fortress of the warlord Uesugi Kenshin, and was originally built and ruled by the Nagao clan. It is listed as one of Japan's Top 100 Castles and the ruins have been protected as a National Historic Site since 1935. Kasuga, Fukuoka
is a city located in Fukuoka Prefecture, Japan. As of August 31, 2016, the city has an estimated population of 112,894 and a population density of 7,978.37 persons per km². The total area is 14.15 km². The city was founded on April 1, 1972. It is directly south of Fukuoka City, and west of Onojo. It also has a border with Nakagawa. Kasuga station is on the JR Kagoshima Main Line, while Kasugabaru Station is on the Nishitetsu Tenjin Ōmuta Line. The Hakata-Minami Line also terminates here. The Japan Air Self-Defense Force has its western regional headquarters here, namely the Kasuga Air Base. There is a Seiyu mall, and several large parks. Shōjirō Kasuga
was a Japanese communist activist. He was a member of the Central Committee of the Japan Communist Party (JCP) from 1945 to 1961. In the postwar period, he emerged as the leader of the party's "anti-mainstream" faction that battled with Kenji Miyamoto over party policy. Early life Kasuga was born in Osaka on March 25, 1903. After dropping out of Ritsumeikan Junior High School he moved to Tokyo and began working as a printer. In 1923, he founded the Kantō Printers Labor Union. After studying abroad in Moscow, he joined the Japan Communist Party in 1927, only to be arrested in 1928 as part of the March 15 Incident. Sentenced to 10 years in prison, he was released in 1937 without undergoing forced ideological conversion (''tenkō''). On December 5, he formed the "Japanese Communist Association." Hachiro Kasuga
, born Minoru Watabe, was a Japanese enka singer. He has been dubbed "the first enka singer". Having seen Ichiro Fujiyama on stage, he attempted to become a popular singer. After he graduated from the Toyo Music School, he joined the Imperial Japanese Army in 1944, and returned from Taiwan in 1945. He joined Shinjuku Moulin Rouge in 1947 and then King Records in 1949. In 1952, Kasuga made his debut with the song , which at first got into the news in Nagoya. His popularity soon became widespread. His 1954 song became more successful throughout Japan. This single sold 500,000 copies in a half year, and eventually sold more than one million copies. In 1955, he also released the single which he musically sought. Tōrō
are a type of traditional East Asian lantern made of stone, wood, or metal. Originating in China, stone lanterns spread to Japan, Korea and Vietnam, though they are most commonly found in both China – extant in Buddhist temples and traditional Chinese gardens – and Japan.
