Edward Kassner
Edward Kassner (28 February 1920 – 19 November 1996) was an Austrian-born music industry executive and songwriter who was responsible for establishing the music publisher Kassner Music and the President record label. He lived and worked in both Britain and the United States. Life and career He was born in Vienna to Jewish parents, and aspired to be a composer from an early age. At the time of the German invasion of Austria in 1938, he escaped through Germany, Belgium and the Netherlands to England. His parents both were murdered at Auschwitz. He initially worked in London cutting felt for hats, but began working as a songwriter with lyricist Peter Mulroney. He was then deported as an alien to Australia but, after being allowed to return to the UK, joined the British Army in which he served as an interpreter attached to a Canadian tank corps regiment in France and Germany. Eli Kassner
Eli Kassner, (27 May 1924 – 23 August 2018) was a Canadian classical guitar teacher and musician. Eli Kassner studied guitar in Vienna and Israel before moving to Canada in 1951. He also studied in the United States, Israel, and in Spain, under the great virtuoso classical guitarist, Andrés Segovia. He performed until 1967. In 1956, he founded the Guitar Society of Toronto. He was its president from 1960 to 1966 and artistic director from 1970 to 2008. In 1967, he established the Eli Kassner Guitar Academy. He established the guitar program at the University of Toronto and The Royal Conservatory of Music in Toronto (RCMT) in 1959 and started the University of Toronto Guitar Ensemble in 1978. In the 1970s, Kassner became interested in microphotography, and worked as a composer and performer for the CBC Television series ''The Lively Arts'' and ''The Nature of Things''. Kerstin Kassner (born 7 January 1958) is a German politician. Born in Radebeul in the Bezirk Dresden of East Germany, she represents The Left. Kerstin Kassner has served as a member of the Bundestag from the state of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern since 2013. Life Kerstin Kassner grew up on the island of Rügen and learned the profession of a waitress after finishing school. In 1981 she became restaurant manager at the FDGB holiday service in Binz. She completed a distance learning course, which she began at the Leipzig Graduate School of Management during this time, as a graduate economist in the hotel and restaurant industry. Afterwards she continued to work in various positions for the FDGB-Feriendienst and managed a hotel until 1991. His translations of William Blake introduced this English romantic poet to German-speaking audiences.
