Eli Kassner
Eli Kassner, (27 May 1924 – 23 August 2018) was a Canadian classical guitar teacher and musician. Eli Kassner studied guitar in Vienna and Israel before moving to Canada in 1951. He also studied in the United States, Israel, and in Spain, under the great virtuoso classical guitarist, Andrés Segovia. He performed until 1967. In 1956, he founded the Guitar Society of Toronto. He was its president from 1960 to 1966 and artistic director from 1970 to 2008. In 1967, he established the Eli Kassner Guitar Academy. He established the guitar program at the University of Toronto and The Royal Conservatory of Music in Toronto (RCMT) in 1959 and started the University of Toronto Guitar Ensemble in 1978. In the 1970s, Kassner became interested in microphotography, and worked as a composer and performer for the CBC Television series ''The Lively Arts'' and ''The Nature of Things''. Annabelle Chvostek
Annabelle Chvostek (born October 5, 1973) is a Canadian singer-songwriter based in Toronto, Ontario. Life and career Born in Toronto, she is the daughter of Canadian television producer Milan Chvostek (''The Nature of Things'') and journalist Isobel Warren. Her first gig was with the Canadian Opera Company when she was seven. She got her start in music singing with the Canadian Children's Opera Chorus and performing on television specials with Anne Murray and Tommy Hunter. She played violin with her dad and joined in on her mother's repertoire of Canadian folk songs. At age 14 she started dabbling in audio production and multitrack composition with a four-track tape recorder and a house full of musical instruments and objects to make noise with. At 16 she began writing and performing songs accompanied by guitar. Pavlo Simtikidis, often called simply Pavlo (born June 29, 1969) is a Greek-Canadian guitarist who plays, "a Mediterranean sound mixing the folkloric styles of Greek, Spanish and Latin music with pop sensibilities." Born in Toronto, Canada, he is the son of Greek immigrants, George & Freda Simtikidis, of Kastoria, Greece. His albums ''Pavlo'' and ''Fantasia'' certified Gold in Canada, and album ''Fantasia'' was nominated in 2001 for a JUNO Award (Canadian Grammy) for Best Instrumental Album. Gordon O'Brien
Gordon O'Brien (born 1966) is a Canadian guitarist. O'Brien won first prize at the prestigious John Williams International Competition in Darwin, Australia, as well as the $10,000 grand prize in the first Stotsenberg Guitar Competition in Los Angeles. In 1994, he received a full Canada Council artist grant to study with the Cuban guitarist/composer Leo Brouwer in Córdoba, Spain. Gordon O'Brien began studying the guitar with Eli Kassner at the age of eight. At age eleven, O'Brien played with the Toronto Symphony Orchestra at Massey Hall under conductor Andrew Davis. That same year he performed at "Guitar 78". He has since performend in the United States, France, England, Australia, New Zealand, China and Martinique. O'Brien lives in Bewdley, Ontario.
