Kashan County ( fa, شهرستان کاشان) is in Isfahan province, Isfahan province, Iran. The capital of the county is the city of Kashan. At the 2006 census, the county's population was 297,000 in 81,816 households. Retrieved 26 October 2022 The following census in 2011 counted 323,371 people in 95,260 households. At the 2016 census, the county's population was 364,482 in 112,258 households. Karkas Mountains
The Karkas mountain chain (Persian رشته كوه كركس ''Reshteh kuh-e Karkas'') is a mountain range which is located almost in central Iran. Having a northwest-southeast direction, it is stretched from Kashan to Ardestan for more than 100 kilometres. With an elevation of 3895 metres, the highest peak of the Karkas Mountains is Mount Karkas which is situated close to Natanz. Etymology Although in Persian ''karkas'' means vulture, it is possible that the name of this mountain chain is derived from the settlement activity of the ancient Kassites in the area, because in the ancient Assyrian language ''Kar-Kassi'' means "town or land of the Kassites" (modified interpretation after Roman Ghirshman, 1954). Ghamsar
Qamsar ( fa, قمصر, also Qamşar, Ghamsar and Kamsār) is a small town in central Iran. It is the administrative centre of the Qamsar District, which forms part of Kashan County is 15 km south of Kashan in the Province of Isfahan. In the 2006 census the population was 3,566, in 1,048 families. From the 13th century and possibly considerably earlier, cobalt was mined near Qamsar. The metal oxide was exported all over the Muslim world for use as the cobalt blue pigment in the decoration of pottery. It is possible that the cobalt ore was also exported to China. In 1301 Abū'l-Qāsim, who came from a family of tilemakers based in Kashan, wrote a treatise on the manufacture of fritware ceramics in which he mentions the village as a source of cobalt ore. Aran o Bidgol ( fa, آران و بیدگل, also Romanized as Ārān va Bīdgol and Ārān-o-Bīd Gol, meaning "Aran and Bidgol") is a city and capital of Aran va Bidgol County, Isfahan Province, Iran.
