Karp Khachvankyan
Karp "Karapet" Mkrtchi Khachvankyan ( hy, Կարպ Խաչվանքյան; January 23, 1923, Akhaltskha – November 29, 1998, Yerevan) was an Armenian actor and director, People's Artist of Armenia (1967).Armenian Concise Encyclopedia, Vol. II, p. 494-495 He was known as the "King of Laughter". Biography From 1941 to 1944. Khachvankyan studied at the Actor's school of the Tbilisi film studio. From 1944 until his death, Khachvankyan acted at the Paronyan Musical Comedy Theatre of Yerevan, performing more than 100 roles. From 1984 to 1988, Khachvankyan was the artistic director of the Paronyan and directed 13 plays. He was best known for his comic roles, such as Knyaz in ''Taxi, Taxi'', Thodoros in the Dimitris Psathas play ''Liar Wanted'', and Skapen in ''Skapen’s Pranks''. Akhaltskha
Akhaltsikhe ( ka, ახალციხე ), formerly known as Lomsia ( ka, ლომსია), is a small city in Georgia's southwestern region (''mkhare'') of Samtskhe–Javakheti. It is situated on both banks of a small river Potskhovi (a left tributary of the Kura), which divides the city between the old city in the north and new in the south. The 9th-century Akhaltsikhe (Rabati) Castle, which was recently restored, is located in the old part of the city. It is one of the main attractions of the Samtskhe-Javakheti region, along with Vardzia, Vale, Okrostsikhe and Zarzma. Paronyan Musical Comedy Theatre Of Yerevan
Officially Hakob Paronyan State Musical Comedy Theatre, is one of the prominent theatres of the Armenian capital Yerevan, founded in 1941. It is located on Vazgen Sargsyan Street in the central Kentron district of the city, near the Republic Square. It is named after the Armenian renowned satirist Hagop Baronian. History The Theatre was opened on June 22, 1942. The first artistic director was Shara Talyan. Dimitris Psathas ( el, Δημήτρης Ψαθάς; 1907 – 13 November 1979) was a modern Greek satirist and playwright. He was born in Trabzon of Pontos, then part of the Ottoman Empire, in 1907. He went to Athens in 1923 and finished his studies whereby he devoted himself to both journalism and the theatre. In 1937, his first book was published ''Justice is in a good mood'', followed the next year by ''Justice is in a bad mood''. He became known with his book ''Madam Sousou''. He wrote many successful theatrical plays. Christos Alexiou describes his theatrical work as "polite comedies" which supplied "relief during the occupation and civil wars". He also wrote a 500-page historical chronicle about the resistance of his compatriots entitled ''Land of Pontos''. Emmerich Kálmán
Emmerich Kálmán ( hu, Kálmán Imre; 24 October 1882 – 30 October 1953) was a Hungarian composer of operettas and a prominent figure in the development of Viennese operetta in the 20th century. Among his most popular works are '' Die Csárdásfürstin'' (1915) and ''Gräfin Mariza'' (1924). Influences on his compositional style include Hungarian folk music (such as the csárdás), the Viennese style of precursors such as Johann Strauss II and Franz Lehár, and, in his later works, American jazz.
