Karoline Bjørnson
Karoline Bjørnson (née Reimers, 1 December 1835 – 27 June 1934) was a Norwegian actress. She is best known as the wife and supporter of poet, playwright, popular speaker and Nobel laureate Bjørnstjerne Bjørnson. Biography Karoline Johanne Elisabeth Reimers was born at Etne in Hordaland and grew up in Bergen, Norway. She was the daughter of Rasmus Helt Reimers (1801–1884) and Marie Jahn (1806–1841). The Reimers and Jahn families had originally immigrated from Germany. She became a student at the Kristiania norske Theater from 1854. In 1858 she was given a role in a play at Det Norske Theater in Bergen, and then joined the theater on a tour to Trondheim. She was married to Bjørnstären Bjørnson from 1858 and to his death in 1910. She was the model for several of Bjørnson's literary women figures, and helping out with articles and other literary works. The figures "Klara Sang" and "Tora Parsberg" are modelled after her. Bergliot Ibsen
Bergliot Ibsen (née Bjørnson; 10 June 1869 – 2 February 1953) was a Norwegian mezzo-soprano singer. Biography She was born Bergliot Bjørnson in Christiania (now Oslo, Norway) as the daughter of writer and Nobel laureate Bjørnstjerne Bjørnson and Karoline Bjørnson (née Reimers). She was married to politician Sigurd Ibsen (1859-1930), son of playwright Henrik Ibsen and Suzannah Ibsen. Her husband later became Norwegian Prime Minister in Stockholm. They were the parents of Tancred Ibsen, Eleonora Borberg and Irene Ibsen Bille. Bergliot Ibsen made her concert début in Paris in 1880, and later toured in Norway and Denmark. In 1948 she published the memoir book ''De tre'' on the three Ibsens: Henrik, Suzannah and Sigurd. She died in Bolzano, Italy in 1953. Øyvind Anker (13 July 1904 – 30 December 1989) was a Norwegian librarian. Personal life He was born in Frankfurt am Main as a son of engineer Nils Botvid Anker (1878–1943) and artist and pianist Gudrun Nilssen (1875–1958). He grew up in Vestre Aker and Lillehammer. He was a brother of Synnøve Anker Aurdal, and through her a brother-in-law of Ludvig Eikaas. Through another sister Ella he was a brother-in-law of Frede Castberg. Olaf Leonhard Gulbransson (26 May 1873 in Oslo18 September 1958 in Tegernsee, West Germany) was a Norwegian artist, painter and designer. He is probably best known for his caricatures and illustrations. Biography From 1885-93, he trained at the Norwegian National Academy of Craft and Art Industry in Christiania (now Oslo), Norway. From 1890, he worked for many Norwegian magazines, including ''Tyrihans'', '' Pluk'', '' Paletten'', '' Fluesoppen'', ''Sfinx'' and '' Trangviksposten ''(1899–1901). In 1900 he studied at the Académie Colarossi in Paris. Bernhard Folkestad
Bernhard Folkestad (13 June 1879 – 9 March 1933) was a Norwegian naturalist painter and essayist. Biography Bernhard Dorotheus Folkestad was born in London, where his father assisted at the Norwegian Seamen’s Mission in England. In 1882, the family moved to Drammen, where Bernhard grew up in the borough of Strømsø. After graduating at Drammen Latin School in 1896, he started as an apprentice in decoration discipline in Christiania (now Oslo) before he went to Copenhagen in 1902. Here he spent a time with Kristian Zahrtmann. From 1903-04, he was a pupil of the naturalist Laurits Tuxen at the Peder Severin Krøyer painting school. After returning to Norway in 1904, he lived in Asker. Folkestad debuted in 1905 at the Autumn Exhibition in Oslo with a painting which was purchased for the National Gallery. Eyolf Soot
Eyolf Soot (24 April 1859 – 30 August 1928) was a Norwegian painter. Biography Eyolf Soot was born in Aremark in Østfold, Norway. He was the grandson of engineer and canal builder, Engebret Soot. Large parts of childhood were spent in New York City where his father, Even Soot, worked as an engineer. His father died when Eyolf Soot was 17 years. Subsequently his mother left with her the children for Norway. They first lived in Lillehammer before they moved to Christiania (now Oslo) where Soot continued his artistic education at the Royal Drawing School and at the painting school of Knud Bergslien. In 1878, he spent five months at the Academy of Fine Arts, Karlsruhe in Berlin under Karl Gussow and three months later in 1881 under Gyula Benczúr at the academy in Munich. Oppland
Oppland is a former county in Norway which existed from 1781 until its dissolution on 1 January 2020. The old Oppland county bordered the counties of Trøndelag, Møre og Romsdal, Sogn og Fjordane, Buskerud, Akershus, Oslo and Hedmark. The county administration was located in the town of Lillehammer. Merger On 1 January 2020, the neighboring counties of Oppland and Hedmark were merged to form the new Innlandet county. Both Oppland and Hedmark were the only landlocked counties of Norway, and the new Innlandet county is the only landlocked county in Norway. The two counties had historically been one county that was divided in 1781. Historically, the region was commonly known as "Opplandene".
