A lawyer can be classified as an advocate, attorney, barrister, canon lawyer, civil law notary, counsel, counselor, solicitor, legal executive, or public servant — with each role having different functions and privileges. Working as a lawyer generally involves the practical application of abstract legal theories and knowledge to solve specific problems. Some lawyers also work primarily in advancing the interests of the law and legal profession. Terminology Different legal jurisdictions have different requirements in the determination of who is recognized as being a lawyer. As a result, the meaning of the term "lawyer" may vary from place to place. Some jurisdictions have two types of lawyers, barrister and solicitors, while others fuse the two. 2016 Philippine Presidential Elections
The 2016 Philippine presidential and vice presidential elections were held on Monday, May 9, 2016, as part of the 2016 general election. This was the 16th direct presidential election in the Philippines since 1935 and the fifth sextennial presidential election since 1992. Incumbent president Benigno Aquino III was ineligible for re-election, pursuant to the 1987 Philippine Constitution. Incumbent vice president Jejomar Binay was eligible for re-election but chose to run for the presidency instead. Therefore, this election determined the 16th president and the 14th vice president. The position of president and vice president are elected separately, thus the two winning candidates could come from different political parties. Rodrigo Duterte led the preliminary count with 38.5% of the vote. Congress met in late May to canvass the results and issued an official result with Rodrigo Duterte and Leni Robredo emerging as the winners of the presidential and vice presidential races, r ...

Legislative Districts Of Davao City
The legislative districts of Davao City are the representations of the highly urbanized city of Davao in the various national legislatures of the Philippines. The city is currently represented in the lower house of the Congress of the Philippines through its first, second, and third congressional districts. History Except during the Second World War, areas now under the jurisdiction of Davao City were previously represented as part of the Department of Mindanao and Sulu (1917–1935), the historical Davao Province (1935–1967), Davao del Sur (1967–1972) and Region XI (1978–1984). Being a chartered city, two delegates represented Davao City in the National Assembly of the Japanese-sponsored Second Philippine Republic: one was the city mayor (an ''ex officio'' member), while the other was elected through an assembly of KALIBAPI members within the city during the Japanese occupation of the Philippines. After the war Davao City reverted to its pre-war representation und ...

Duterte Administration
Rodrigo Duterte became the 16th President of the Philippines on June 30, 2016, succeeding Benigno Aquino III. He was the first president from Mindanao, the first president to have worked in all three branches of government, and the oldest to be elected. He won the election amid growing frustration with post-EDSA governance that favored elites over ordinary Filipinos. His tenure ended on June 30, 2022. Duterte began a crackdown on illegal drugs and corruption, leading to a reduction in drug proliferation but also causing the deaths of 6,600 people linked to the illegal drug trade as of July 2019. His administration withdrew the Philippines from the International Criminal Court after the court launched a preliminary examination into alleged crimes against humanity committed during the war on drugs. Duterte increased infrastructure spending and launched Build! Build! Build!, an ambitious building program. He initiated liberal economic reforms, including reforming the cou ...
