Karl Von Marinelli
Karl Edler von Marinelli (baptized 12 September 1745, Vienna – 28 January 1803, Vienna) was an actor, theatre manager and playwright. From 1761 Marinelli was a travelling comedian in the "Schultz Company" ("Schultzsche Gesellschaft") in Baden (Lower Austria), that was taken over a few years later by J. M. Menninger and played in Brno, Bratislava, Budapest and Vienna. He was one of the founders of the genre of "Vienna Local Comedy"; ("Wiener Lokalposse"), and the author of several plays for the Schultz company. In 1780 he became head of the company, where J. J. La Roche performed most successfully as the "Punch" ("Kasperl"). He opened the first permanent popular theatre of Vienna with this troupe in the Theater in der Leopoldstadt (also known as "Kasperl Theater") in 1781. At the same year the composer Ferdinand Kauer joined his company as leader of the orchestra and as conductor. Ferdinand Kauer
Ferdinand August Kauer (18 January 1751 – 13 April 1831) was an Austrians, Austrian composer and pianist. Biography Kauer was born in Klein-Thaya (today Dyjákovičky) near Znojmo in South Moravian Region, South Moravia). He studied in Znojmo, Tyrnau, and Vienna, and later settled in Vienna around 1777. In 1781 he joined Karl von Marinelli's newly formed company at Vienna as leader and conductor of the orchestra. From 1782 he also composed music for the theatre, including Singspiele, operas, and incidental music and songs, mostly to texts by the house poet Karl Friedrich Hensler. Their first major success was ''Das Faustrecht in Thüringen'' (''The Law of the Jungle in Thüringen'', 1796–1797), which was eclipsed two years later by the success of ''Das Donauweibchen'' (1798). He was Kapellmeister of the Theater in der Leopoldstadt and Theater in der Josefstadt in Vienna and also in Graz. Theater In Der Leopoldstadt
The Theater in der Leopoldstadt (also: Leopoldstädter Theater) was an opera house in the Leopoldstadt district of Vienna, founded in 1781 by Karl von Marinelli, following the ''Schauspielfreiheit'' (ending of the court's monopoly on entertainment) by Joseph II in 1776. The 19th-century summer stage called the Thaliatheater was also managed by the Leopoldstadt. In its early years, the theatre staged Singspiele and Possen mit Gesang, notably by the theatre's Kapellmeister Wenzel Müller and his assistant Ferdinand Kauer. The dramatist Ferdinand Raimund worked with the theatre in the 1820s. The theatre was eventually demolished and rebuilt in 1847, under the name of the Carltheater.
