Karin Johannesson
Karin Maria Elisabet Johannesson (born 8 December 1970) is a Swedish prelate who is the current Bishop of Uppsala. Biography Johannesson was born in Filipstad, Värmland County, Sweden on 8 December 1970 and was educated at the public school in Filipstad. She graduated with a Bachelor of Theology in 1994, and a bachelor's degree in 1996 from Uppsala University. She earned her PhD in theology and obtained a doctorate there in 2002. She was ordained priest in 2010 in the Diocese of Karlstad by Bishop Esbjörn Hagberg. Johannesson was accepted as an associate professor of religious philosophy at Uppsala University in 2015. On 3 March 2019 she was consecrated as Bishop of Uppsala by Antje Jackelén Antje Jackelén (; born 4 June 1955) is archbishop emerita and primate emerita (''prima inter pares'') of the Church of Sweden, the national church. Archdiocese Of Uppsala
The Archdiocese of Uppsala ( sv, Uppsala ärkestift) is one of the thirteen dioceses of the Church of Sweden and the only one having the status of an archdiocese. Lutheran archdiocese Uppsala is the seat of the Lutheran Archbishop of Uppsala. The diocese, which has its centre in the city of Uppsala, covers Uppsala County, Gävleborg County and parts of Stockholm County and Västmanland County. The archdiocese originally also included those parts of Norrland, which were included in the new Diocese of Härnösand when it was founded in 1647 and the City of Stockholm, which was made a diocese of its own in 1942.
