Karin Andersson (politician)
Karin Elizabet Andersson (8 October 1918 – 20 July 2012) was a Swedish politician who served as Minister for Gender Equality from 1979 to 1982. Born into a farm family as one of six children, her father Elias served as municipal councillor in Varberg Municipality. She began working for ''Hallands Nyheter'' as a journalist in 1947, then worked for ''Ålandstidningen'' until 1957. In the 1960s, Andersson worked with Sveriges Radio, and also began to get involved with the Centre Party, and became the party's federal secretary in 1966, serving in that position until 1979. In 1966, Andersson was elected to Stockholm City Council, and in 1971 she became a member of the Riksdag The Riksdag (, ; also sv, riksdagen or ''Sveriges riksdag'' ) is the legislature and the supreme decision-making body of Sweden. Karin Mamma Andersson
Mamma Andersson (born 1962) is a Swedish contemporary artist. She is based in Stockholm and is married to artist Jockum Nordström. Biography Born Anna Karin Andersson, she drew and painted from an early age without any family members being interested in art. Andersson's birthplace and childhood home of Luleå is in North Sweden, near the Polar circle. She studied at the Royal Institute of Art in Stockholm and her nickname Mamma ("Mother") was added at that time to differentiate herself from another student with the same name. She was a mother during her time at art school and has two sons with artist Jockum Nordström. She started by painting landscapes because that was what she saw daily as she pushed her kids around in the pram. She worked as a guard at Moderna Museet in Stockholm and was influenced by work of Dick Bengtsson.
