Kari Erickson
Kari Erickson (born December 18, 1971, as Kari Liapis) is an American curler and Olympian. Career Erickson started curling in 1988 and had a successful junior career, winning the Minnesota State Junior Championship five years in a row, 1989–1993. Three of those years she went on to win the United States Junior Championship (1990, 1992, 1993). Winning the US Championship allowed her to represent the United States at the World Junior Championships, at which she finished 5th, 2nd, and 3rd, respectively. In 1994 Erickson made her first appearance at the United States Women's Championship, making it to the semifinals. After a few year gap she returned to the National Championship five more times in a six year span: 1997 (2nd), 1998 (1st), 1999, 2001 (1st), 2002 (2nd). Bemidji, Minnesota
Bemidji ( ) is a city and the county seat of Beltrami County, in northern Minnesota, United States. The population was 14,574 at the 2020 census. According to 2021 census estimates, the city is estimated to have a population of 15,279, making it the largest commercial center between Grand Forks, North Dakota and Duluth. As a central city for three Indian reservations, Bemidji is the site of many Native American services, including the Indian Health Service. Near Bemidji are the Red Lake Indian Reservation, White Earth Indian Reservation, and the Leech Lake Indian Reservation. Erika Brown (curler)
Erika Lynn Brown (born January 25, 1973) is an American curler, currently residing in Oakville, Ontario, Canada. She started curling in 1980 and throws right-handed. Career As a 15-year-old, Brown represent the United States at the 1988 Winter Olympics when curling was a demonstration event. Brown played third on the team, skipped by Lisa Schoeneberg, and the team finished fifth. Brown then had a successful junior career, representing the United States at six (1988, 1989, 1991, 1992, 1993, 1994) World Junior Curling Championships, winning silver in 1992 and 1994 and a bronze in 1993. Brown has participated in sixteen different United States National Championships, beginning with a second-place finish in 1991. Joni Cotten
Joni Cotten (born May 21, 1953, in North Chicago, Illinois) is an American curler from Mount Prospect, Illinois. Curling career In 1997 Cotten won the United States Women's Championship while playing second for Patti Lank. As national champions they represented the United States at the 1997 World Women's Championship, finishing 7th. Cotten again won the US Championship in 2000, this time playing second for Amy Wright. At the 2000 World Championship the US women tied for 6th place with Germany and Denmark. At the 2001 World Championship Cotten played as alternate with skip Kari Erickson, Debbie McCormick, Stacey Liapis, and Ann Swisshelm. The team finished 6th. Cotten continued to play alternate for team Erickson as they won the 2001 United States Olympic Trials and competed as Team USA at the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City. Ann Swisshelm
Ann Swisshelm (born March 9, 1968) is a curler from Chicago. Swisshelm represented the United States in the 2002 Salt Lake City Olympics and the 2014 Sochi Olympics. She has also been known as Ann Swisshelm Silver. Career Swisshelm began curling at age ten at the Exmoor Country Club in Highland Park, a suburb of Chicago. She made her United States National Championship debut in 1995, where her team placed fifth. Since then she has competed in the National Championships 18 more times. Her team won the National title five times, in 1998, 2001, 2003, 2010, and 2013. At her first World Championships in 1998, Swisshelm and team finished in a three-way tie for eighth.
