On 21 April 1921, the Republic of Eastern Karelia (''Itä Karjala'') was declared independent. Between October 1921 and February 1922 Karelian military troops, supported by the KUG, moved from Finnish territory into Eastern Karelia. Republic Of Uhtua
The Republic of Uhtua (or the Republic of East Karelia) was an unrecognized state, with the focus of a state led by Finns. It existed from 1919 to 1920, created out of five Volosts in the Kemsky Uyezd of the Arkhangelsk Governorate, now in the Republic of Karelia. The capital of the republic was the village of Uhtua (now Kalevala). Prelude Discussions about Karelia becoming its own state emerged in 1906, when on 3 August, the was created in Tampere, Grand Duchy of Finland. In 1911, the Union was banned, but it was later revived in 1922 as the Academic Karelia Society, to take a direct part in the creation of the Republic of Uhtua. After the Bolsheviks came to power, most of the peasants of Karelia fell under the definition of a kulak and were subject to loss of grain and cattle. The Olonets Government was a short-lived state that existed in 1920 in the southern part of modern-day Republic of Karelia in Russia. The government formed in Olonets in May 1920, before fleeing to Finland in August the same year when its territories were captured by the Russian Red Army. Repola
Reboly (russian: Реболы, fi, Repola, krl, Rebol´ä) is a settlement in the Republic of Karelia of the Russian Federation by the Finnish border, located southeast of Kuhmo and northeast of Lieksa. In 1926 the settlement had a population of 1465, in 2010 - 258 people. Reboly was first mentioned in 1555; by 1679 it was the center of a district with 23 villages and 220 households. Its location on the Russo-Swedish border led to several cases in which the village was destroyed by Swedish detachments. In the nineteenth century it became an often-visited site by Finnish nationalist scholars, such as Elias Lönnrot, Matthias Castrén and D. E. D. Europaeus. After the Finland's declaration of independence the settlement and its district became an issue in Finnish-Russian relations when its predominantly Karelian population held a vote in August 1918 to join Finland. Porajärvi
Porosozero (russian: Поросо́зеро; krl, Porarvi; fi, Porajärvi) is a rural locality (a settlement) in Suoyarvsky District of the Republic of Karelia, located along the Suna River. Municipally, it is a part and the administrative center of Porosozerskoye Rural Settlement of Suoyarvsky Municipal District. Population: 3,529 ( 2002 Census); 4,406 ( 1989 Census). Before 1920 it was a municipality in the Ladoga Karelia by the Finnish border. The main source of livelihood is the forest industry. History The municipality of Porosozero was established in 1873.
