Karat Abdul Razak
Karat Razack is an Indian politician and an MLA in Kerala legislative assembly. His native place is Koduvally (കൊടുവള്ളി ) in Kozhikode district of Kerala. He was a prominent leader of Indian Union Muslim League IUML but contested the 2016 assembly election from Koduvally constituency as an independent supported by the LDF and got elected. After he was denied a seat by IUML both in 2011 and 2016, he contested as a dissident. LDF announced support and Razak won by 573 votes. On 25 October, a case was filed by a member of the Koduvally Muslim Students Federation against Razak for allegedly assaulting students inside a college in Koduvally. Kozhikode (), or Calicut district, is one of the 14 districts in the Indian state of Kerala, along its Southwestern Malabar Coast. 2016 Kerala Legislative Assembly Election
The 2016 Kerala Legislative Assembly election was held on 16 May 2016 to elect 140 MLAs to the 14th Kerala Legislative Assembly. Voter turnout was 77.53%, up from 75.12% in the previous election. The result was declared on 19 May 2016. The Left Democratic Front (LDF), led by Communist Party of India (Marxist) (CPI(M)), won the election, defeating the incumbent United Democratic Front (UDF), led by the Indian National Congress (INC), which could only win 47 seats in the election. Pinarayi Vijayan was sworn in as the Chief Minister on 25 May. Background The tenure of the members of the Legislative Assembly in the state was to end on 31 May 2016. Left Democratic Front (Kerala)
The Left Democratic Front (LDF) is an alliance of left-wing political parties in the state of Kerala, India. It is the current ruling political alliance of Kerala, since 2016. It is one of the two major political alliances in Kerala, the other being Indian National Congress-led United Democratic Front, each of which has been in power alternately for the last four decades. LDF has won the elections to the State Legislature of Kerala in the years 1980, 1987, 1996, 2006, 2016 and had a historic re-election in 2021 where an incumbent government was re-elected for first time in 40 years. The High Court of Kerala is the highest court in the Indian state of Kerala and the Union territory of Lakshadweep. It is located in Kochi.
