Karamchand
''Karamchand'' is an Indian detective TV series telecast in June 1985. It was broadcast on India's national television channel DD1, and was one of India's first detective series. The title character was played by noted actor Pankaj Kapur. The role of his assistant Kitty was played by Sushmita Mukherjee. Famous music director duo Anand–Milind composed the theme music and title track for the series. Plot Karamchand is a detective who helps the local police solve murders in his inimitable style, always munching on carrots and often playing chess with the Police inspector A Khan. He has a funny assistant, Kitty. And whenever she asks a silly question, or almost reveals the secret, Karamchand says, ''"Shut up, Kitty"''. Pankaj Kapur (born 29 May 1954) is an Indian actor who has worked in Hindi theatre, television and films. He has appeared in several television serials and films. He is the recipient of several awards, including a Filmfare Award and three National Film Awards. Pankuj Parashar is an Indian film and television director. Among his most-known are police-thriller ''Jalwa'' (1987) starring Naseeruddin Shah, the Sridevi hit, ''ChaalBaaz'' (1989), and television detective series ''Karamchand'' (1985). Anil Chaudhary is an Indian director, producer and screenwriter. He is the maker of notable television shows such as Mahayagya (1997), Phatichar (1991), Kabeer (1986) and Gunwale Dulhania Le Jayenge (2009).
