Kapušianske Kľačany
Kapušianske Kľačany (; hu, Nyarádkelecsény) is a village and municipality in Michalovce District in the Kosice Region of eastern Slovakia. It was created in 1943 by merging the villages Kľačiany, Močiar and Ňarád, all first recorded in 1315. The current name Kapušianske Kľačany originated in 1948. Etymology Slovak ''Kľačane'', see Kľačany for the details. The theory is supported also by the local name Močiar ("swamp). History In historical records the village was first mentioned in 1315. Before the establishment of independent Czechoslovakia in 1918, it was part of Ung County within the Kingdom of Hungary. Geography The village lies at an altitude of and covers an area of (2020-06-30/-07-01). Population It has a population of 959 people (2020-12-31). Okres Michalovce
Okres (Czech and Slovak term meaning "district" in English; from German Kreis - circle (or perimeter)) refers to administrative entities in the Czech Republic and Slovakia. It is similar to Landkreis in Germany or "''okrug''" in other Slavic-speaking countries. The first districts in the Czech lands developed from domains in 1850 by the decision of the Imperial government of Austria. In the territory of present-day Slovakia their predecessors were districts of the counties of the Kingdom of Hungary ''(slúžnovský okres'' in Slovak). Veľké Kapušany
Veľké Kapušany (; hu, Nagykapos) is a small town on the eastern plains of Slovakia, not far from the Ukraine, Ukrainian border. Name The name "Kapušany" is probably derived from the Hungarian word ''kapu'', meaning "gate". History The territory of the town has been settled since time immemorial (findings from the Neolithic period). From the second half of the 10th century until 1918, it was part of the Kingdom of Hungary. The first written references to the settlement stems from 1211 ("Kapos") and 1214 ("Copus"). The settlement was awarded town status in 1430. The town was the second largest settlement (after Uzhhorod) of the Ung County and frequently served as a temporary or permanent station for migrants (Germans, Rusyns, Poles, Hungarians etc.) from the east to the west.
