Kapuskasing Airport is located west of the town of Kapuskasing in northern Ontario, Canada. The airport formerly handled scheduled passenger service through Bearskin Airlines, which flew to Timmins but that service was discontinued at the end of June 2017. ''Kapuskasing'' is a word of Cree origin meaning "bend in the river". The first reported survey of the district in which Kapuskasing lies was carried out in 1875 by Dr. Robert Bell of the Geological Survey of Canada. He referred to the Kapuskasing River as the "Kai-bush-ka-sing". According to Bell's information, the Kapuskasing River derived its name from the lake at its head. Bearskin Lake Air Service LP, operating as Bearskin Airlines, is a regional airline based in Thunder Bay, Ontario, Canada. It is a division of Perimeter Aviation and operates services in northern Ontario and Manitoba. Its main base is at Thunder Bay International Airport (YQT), with a hub at Greater Sudbury Airport (YSB).
