Kapsabet High School
Kapsabet High School is a boys' national school located in Kapsabet, Kenya, about 40 kilometers from Eldoret, Kenya's fifth largest city. History The school was founded in 1925 as the Government African School (GAS). It is one of the oldest high schools in the country. It was established to cater for African students at a time when schools were still segregated by the British colonialists. It has undergone many transformations over the past century. The old school campus where the school stood at first is now used as a primary school, Kapsabet High Primary School. The school now celebrates its Founders' Day on 4 February, every year. Ranking Kapsabet is consistently ranked among the top schools in Kenya in the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education, an examination which is taken nationally at the completion of Secondary Education. Julius Yego (born 4 January 1989) is a Kenyan track and field athlete who competes in the javelin throw. Nicknamed "Mr. YouTube" because he learned how to throw by watching YouTube videos of javelin athletes, Yego is the African record and Commonwealth record holder for the event with a personal best of 92.72 m. He won the javelin title at the All-Africa Games in 2011 and at the African Championships in Athletics in 2012 and 2014; at the 2013 World Championships he placed fourth, losing a medal in the final round. Jean-Marie Seroney
Jean-Marie Seroney (25 July 1927 – 6 December 1982) was a Kenyan human rights advocate, a legislator, and an Amnesty International prisoner of conscience. He was detained as a prisoner of conscience for 1,155 days. Seroney served as the Member of the Legislative Council for Nandi Constituency from 1961 to 1963 and Member of Parliament (MP) for Nandi North from 1963 to 1966 before becoming the Member for the newly formed Tinderet Constituency from 1966 to 1975. As a legislator, he worked hard to introduce bills that would remove or at least check the excessive powers vested in the president as a result of the numerous amendments to the Constitution.
