Kansas Speedway
Kansas Speedway is a tri-oval race track in the Village West area near Kansas City, Kansas, United States. It was built in 2001 and it currently hosts two annual NASCAR race weekends. The IndyCar Series also held races at the venue until 2011. The speedway is owned and operated by NASCAR. History International Speedway Corporation began exploring the idea of building a racing facility in the midwest in 1996. Attention was turned towards the Kansas City area in 1997. Officials considered both the Missouri and Kansas side of the city but eventually settled with the Kansas side because of better funding. Architecture firm HNTB, which also designed Chicagoland Speedway, provided civil engineering and site development, landscape design, and race track design. Speediatrics 150
The Kansas Lottery 150 is an ARCA Menards Series race held at the Kansas Speedway in Kansas City, Kansas. The inaugural race was held in 2001. From 2012 to 2021, this race was the season-finale for the series. The race was originally 201 miles and 134 laps long until 2006. Each year since 2007 to 2010 and since 2016, the race has been 150 miles and 100 laps long. The race was 148.5 miles and 99 laps from 2011 to 2015 to match the name of the race, the 98.9. It has been held on the same weekend as the NASCAR Cup Series Hollywood Casino 400 since 2009. AdventHealth 400
The AdventHealth 400 is a NASCAR Cup Series race held at Kansas Speedway in Kansas City, Kansas. Kansas received a second date beginning in 2011 part of a NASCAR schedule realignment; with the other one being the Hollywood Casino 400, the thirty-second race of the season. Kurt Busch is the defending winner. History The inaugural STP 400 was held on June 5, 2011. Like the fall race at Kansas, the distance of the race was 400.5 miles (644.542 km). Brad Keselowski won the inaugural running of the race ahead of Dale Earnhardt Jr. after saving fuel. Unlike 2011, the 2012 race was moved to April 22, 2012, to allow more time for the Kansas Speedway to complete the track's reconfiguration. During the 2012 STP 400, A. J. Heart Of America 200
The Heart of America 200 is a NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race held at the Kansas Speedway in Kansas City, Kansas. Since 2020, the race has been 134 laps and long. From 2001 to 2019, the race was one of a few on the Truck Series schedule to be 250 miles (Daytona, Talladega, Texas' 400km event). In 2020, as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic schedule changes, the Truck Series had three races at Kansas with the first two being a doubleheader in July after being postponed from May and the other one being held in the fall. 2003 IndyCar Series
The 2003 IRL IndyCar Series brought some of the biggest changes in its history. The league adopted the name IndyCar Series, after a settlement with CART prohibiting its use had expired. Several former CART teams brought their full operations to the IRL, most notably major squads Chip Ganassi Racing and Andretti Green Racing, as well as former CART engine manufacturers Toyota and Honda, replacing Infiniti who shifted its efforts to the new feeder series Infiniti Pro Series. Many of the IRL's old guard including Robbie Buhl, Greg Ray, and Buddy Lazier had difficulty competing in this new manufacturer-driven landscape. The IndyCar Series, currently known as the NTT IndyCar Series under sponsorship, is the highest class of regional North American open-wheel single-seater formula racing cars in the United States, which has been conducted under the auspices of various sanctioning bodies since 1920 after two initial attempts in 1905 and 1916. Scott Pruett
Scott Donald Pruett (born March 24, 1960) is a former American race car driver who has competed in NASCAR, CART, IMSA, Trans-Am and Grand-Am. He and his wife Judy have three children and are children's book authors. Pruett started racing go karts at the age of 8 and went on to win 10 professional karting championships. In the 1980s, he established himself as a top American sports car racer, eventually winning two IMSA GTO championships and three Trans-Am Series championships. In the 1990s, Pruett was a regular in the CART series. From 1988 to 1999, he made 145 starts with two wins, five poles and 15 podiums (top-three finishes). Scott Dixon
Scott Ronald Dixon (born 22 July 1980) is a professional racing driver from New Zealand, who competes in the NTT IndyCar Series for Chip Ganassi Racing. Dixon has won the IndyCar championship six times: in 2003, 2008, 2013, 2015, 2018 and 2020. He also won the 92nd Indianapolis 500 in 2008 from pole position. The 2013 Rolex Sports Car Series season was the fourteenth and final season of the Grand American Road Racing Association's premier series, before merging up with the American Le Mans Series in 2014.
