Kandan Karunai
''Kandhan Karunai'' () is a 1967 Indian Tamil language, Tamil-language Hindu mythological film, written and directed by A. P. Nagarajan. It features an ensemble cast including Sivaji Ganesan, Gemini Ganesan, Sivakumar, Savitri (actress), Savithri, K. R. Vijaya and J. Jayalalithaa, Jayalalithaa. This was the debut film for actress Sridevi, who had starred as Lord Murugan at the age of 3. Plot The film revolves around Murugan, his birth, marriage and his acceptance of the post of the head of the army of heaven. In Hinduism, there are six abodes of lord Muruga, known as the "Arupadaiveedu". The story behind each of the abodes are portrayed chronologically in the film. It starts with Swamimalai, where Lord Muruga teaches the meaning of the word 'OM' to his father, Shiva. He goes to Palani Hills after a fight over a sacred fruit, that is his second abode. Kachiyapper
Kachiyapper (Kacchiyappa Shiva āchāriyār) is a Tamil temple priest who gained fame as a poet and Vedanta, Vedantist. Personal life Kachiyapper was born in a Shaivite Brahmin family and officiated as a priest in the Ekambareswarar Temple (Kanchipuram), Ekambareswarar Temple in Kanchipuram, Kumarakottam Temple, Kumara Kottam Murugan temple, Kanchipuram. Works Kachiyapper was a poet and Vedantist. His greatest composition was the ''Kanda Puranam, Kandha puranam'', which is the Tamil counterpart of the Sanskrit ''Skanda Purana''. The metres have been composed in the same style as the former. It is made up of six volumes comprising a total of 13,305 stanzas. According to Kachiyapper's preface to Parasurama Mudaliar's ''Kandha purana Vachagam'', the work was completed in the Saka year 700 corresponding to 778 AD. Avvaiyar
Avvaiyar (Tamil: ஔவையார்) was the title of more than one female poet who were active during different periods of Tamil literature. They were some of the most famous and important female poets of the Tamil canon. Abidhana Chintamani states that there were three female poets titled ''Avvaiyar''. Among them, the first Avvaiyar lived during the Sangam period (c. 3rd century BCE) and is said to have had cordial relations with the Tamil chieftains Vēl Pāri and Athiyamān. She wrote 59 poems in the Puṟanāṉūṟu. Avvaiyar II lived during the period of Kambar and Ottakoothar during the reign of the Chola dynasty in the tenth century. Vaḷḷi ( ta, வள்ளி) ("Creeper, Sweet potato plant") is a Hindu goddess, and the second consort of the deity Murugan. An incarnation of the goddess Sundaravalli, daughter of Vishnu, Valli is born on earth as the daughter of a chieftain, leading a life of a huntress. Murugan, the god of war, eventually woos and weds her, according to Tamil folklore. Both of their legends originate from the mountain region also known as Kurunji in Tamilakam. Devasena (, ) is a Hindu goddess of aspiration, and the consort of the war god Kartikeya (Murugan). She is also known as Devayanai, Deivanai, and Deivayanai in Tamil texts. Her name is also spelled as Teyvanai or Tevayanai (). Veerabaahu
Veerabahu is a Hindu deity and the commander-in-chief of Murugan's army. Lord Muruga was born from the third eye of God Shiva. To assist him from the ornaments of Goddess Shakthi, nine commanders (''Navaveerargal'') were born. Among the nine commanders, Veerabahu is ranked the highest. The Sengunthar Kaikolar community, a community of weavers and warriors in Tamil Nadu, claim descent from Veerabahu and other eight Navaveerargal. He is worshipped mostly in Tamil Nadu.
