Kampfretter
Kampfretter (german: Kampfretter, lit=Combat rescuemen) is a special operations force of the German Air Force, tasked with combat search and rescue (CSAR) missions. As part of personnel recovery Kampfretter units are tasked with the recovery of air crews and personnel in hazardous regions or behind enemy lines. Selection and training Candidates for serving as part of the Kampfretter units are recruited from the German Air Force Regiment. In order to increase the number of candidates, recruitment is being opened continuously for members of the German Army's Rapid Forces Division. The completion of basic infantry training and an enlistment of 20 years is required for prospective members. The German Air Force (german: Luftwaffe, lit=air weapon or air arm, ) is the aerial warfare branch of the , the armed forces of Germany. The ''Division Schnelle Kräfte'' (Rapid Forces Division) formerly ''Division Spezielle Operationen'' (Special Operations Division) is an airborne division of the German Army. Its headquarters staff is based at Stadtallendorf. It was created as 1st Airborne Division (''1. Luftlandedivision'') in 1956 and reflagged twice in 1994 and 2001 as Airmobile Forces Command/4th Division (''Kommando Luftbewegliche Kräfte/4. European Personnel Recovery Centre
The European Personnel Recovery Centre (EPRC) is an intergovernmental military organisation that contributes to the development and harmonisation of policies and standards related to personnel recovery. The ERPC also provides support for education, training, exercises and operations. The EPRC was established on 8 July 2015 and is based at Poggio Renatico Air Base in Italy. Pararescuemen (also known as PJs) are United States Air Force Special Operations Command (AFSOC) and Air Combat Command (ACC) operators tasked with recovery and medical treatment of personnel in humanitarian and combat environments. These special operations units are also used to support NASA missions and have been used to recover astronauts after water landings. 2016 Bombing Of The German Consulate At Mazar-i-Sharif
A group of three suicide attackers rammed a truck bomb into the wall of the German consulate in Mazar-i-Sharif, Afghanistan on 10 November 2016. Six people were killed (as well as two of the bombers) and more than 120 others were injured, while the sole remaining attacker was captured by Afghan security forces. The Taliban claimed responsibility for the attack and Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid said the bombing was in retaliation for an airstrike in Kunduz that killed 30 civilians the week before. Event At about 23:05 local time, a suicide bomber rammed a truck into the side of the German consulate. The truck exploded, killing six people and injuring dozens of others. Resolute Support Mission (RSM) or Operation Resolute Support was a NATO-led multinational mission in Afghanistan. It began on 1 January 2015 as the successor to the International Security Assistance Force (ISAF), which was completed on 28 December 2014. Survival, Evasion, Resistance And Escape
Survival, Evasion, Resistance, and Escape (SERE) is a training program, best known by its military acronym, that prepares U.S. military personnel, U.S. Department of Defense civilians, and private military contractors to survive and "return with honor" in survival scenarios. The curriculum includes survival skills, evading capture, application of the military code of conduct, and techniques for escape from captivity. Formally established by the U.S. Air Force at the end of World War II and the start of the Cold War, it was extended to the Navy and United States Marine Corps and consolidated within the Air Force during the Korean War with greater focus on "resistance training." During the Vietnam War (1959–1975), there was clear need for "Jungle" survival training and greater public focus on American POWs. German Commando Course
The Bundeswehr (raid-) commando course (German: ''Einzelkämpferlehrgang'') is a course conducted by the German Bundeswehr. The course was established in the early 1980s and is aimed on testing the physical and mental endurance of participants. It teaches special skills and tactics necessary to operate and survive under stressful conditions, and Jagdkampf advanced infantry tactics. Until recently the ''Einzelkämpferlehrgang'' was a requirement for becoming an officer in the Bundeswehr. However, it became optional for officers and for NCOs. The course was taught at the German paratrooper school in Altenstadt, Upper Bavaria, now only at the German infantry school in Hammelburg.
