Kalymnos
Kalymnos ( el, Κάλυμνος) is a Greek island and municipality in the southeastern Aegean Sea. It belongs to the Dodecanese island chain, between the islands of Kos (south, at a distance of ) and Leros (north, at a distance of less than ): the latter is linked to it through a series of islets. Kalymnos lies between two and five hours away by sea from Rhodes. In 2011 the island had a population of 16,001, making it the third most populous island of the Dodecanese, after Kos and Rhodes. It is known in Greece for the affluence of much of its population, and also stands as both the wealthiest member of the Dodecanese and one of the wealthiest Greek islands overall. Pothia
Pothia or Pothaia or Kalymnos Town (''Greek: Πόθια ή Ποθαία'') is the capital of Kalymnos and the major settlement of the island. It is located in the south of Kalymnos in the edge of a bay. It is very close to Chorio or Chora, the old capital of Kalymnos. Pothia is the main port and includes the main public services of the island. Its population is 12,324 inhabitants according to 2011 census. History Pothia was built in 1850 when the pirates' raids decreased allowing the inhabitants to move near the sea. Kalolimnos
Kalolimnos ( el, Καλόλιμνος) is a small Greek island in the Dodecanese chain, lying between Kalymnos and Imia, opposite the coast of Turkey, in the Aegean Sea. It is part of the municipality of Kalymnos. Kalolimnos reaches an altitude of 80 meters above sea level and has a total area of 1.95 km2. Population As of the 2011 census, two citizens lived in Kalolimnos, and a permanent garrison is stationed there. The island is steep and rocky and has a population of wild goats. Leros
Leros ( el, Λέρος) is a Greek island and municipality in the Dodecanese in the southern Aegean Sea. It lies (171 nautical miles) from Athens's port of Piraeus, from which it can be reached by an 9-hour ferry ride or by a 45-minute flight from Athens, and about 20 miles to Turkey. Kalymnos ( el, Περιφερειακή ενότητα Καλύμνου) is one of the regional units of Greece. It is part of the region of South Aegean. The regional unit covers the islands of Kalymnos, Agathonisi, Astypalaia, Leipsoi, Leros, Patmos and several smaller islands in the Aegean Sea. Telendos
Telendos, ( el, Τέλενδος) is a Greek island in the southeastern Aegean Sea, belonging to the Dodecanese. It is approximately off the coast of the larger island of Kalymnos, of which it is administratively a part. Charles Thomas Newton
Sir Charles Thomas Newton (16 September 1816 – 28 November 1894) was a British archaeologist. He was made KCB in 1887. Life He was born in 1816, the second son of Newton Dickinson Hand Newton, vicar of Clungunford, Shropshire, and afterwards of Bredwardine, Herefordshire. He was educated at Shrewsbury School (then under Samuel Butler), and at Christ Church, Oxford (matriculating 17 Oct. 1833), where he graduated B.A. in 1837 and M.A. in 1840. Already in his undergraduate days Newton (as his friend and contemporary, John Ruskin, tells in ''Præterita'') was giving evidence of his natural bent; the scientific study of classical archaeology, which Winckelmann had set on foot in Germany, was in England to find its worthy apostle in Newton.
