Kakheti Telavi
FC Kakheti Telavi was a Georgian football club based in Telavi. They played in the Umaglesi Liga, the top division in Georgian football from 2005 to 2007, but were relegated to Pirveli Liga, the Georgian second division. The club did not win a match in their relegation season of 2006–07. Kakheti Telavi finished seventh in the Pirveli Liga's Eastern (or Aghmoslaveti) Zone in the 2007–08 season. The club played their home games at Municipal Stadium. Previously, the club was known as FC Nadikvari Telavi. The club also twice won the Georgian Cup during the Soviet era, in 1972 and 1977. At the end of 2013−14 season, after the club was relegated from Pirveli Liga (second tier) to Meore Liga (third tier), Kakheti was dissolved due to financial difficulties. Givi Chokheli Stadium is a multi-use stadium in Telavi, Georgia. It is used mostly for football matches and is the home stadium of FC Kakheti Telavi. The stadium is able to hold 12,000 people. Telavi
Telavi ( ka, თელავი ) is the main city and administrative center of Georgia's eastern province of Kakheti. Its population consists of some 19,629 inhabitants (as of the year 2014). The city is located on the foothills of the Tsiv-Gombori Range at above sea level. History The first archaeological findings from Telavi date back to the Bronze Age. One of the earliest surviving accounts of Telavi is from the 2nd century AD, by Greek geographer Claudius Ptolemaeus, who mentions the name ''Teleda'' (a reference to ''Telavi''). Telavi began to transform into a fairly important and large political and administrative center in the 8th century. The Erovnuli Liga ( ka, ეროვნული ლიგა - lit. National League) is the top division of professional football in Georgia. Since 1990, it has been organized by the Professional Football League of Georgia and Georgian Football Federation. Under the current name the league was introduced for the 2017 season as a part of reorganization process of the entire league system. It was formerly known as Pirveli liga (the First league). At the end of each season the winner gains automatic promotion and the bottom club is relegated. Liga 3, organized by Georgian Football Federation since 1990, is the third division of professional football in Georgia. Until 2017, when the current name was introduced, it was known as Meore Liga (the Second league). Structure and league system There were 20 teams competing in the league in 2017. In 2019, when Liga 4 was formed, their number was reduced to ten, although after two seasons GFF decided to extend the league to 14 at the expense of two bottom teams from the previous season and two second-placed clubs from Liga 4 While and Red Groups.
