Kajaani University Of Applied Sciences
Kajaani University of Applied Sciences (KAMK, in Finnish: Kajaanin ammattikorkeakoulu) is a university of applied sciences located in the town of Kajaani. There are approximately 2200 students and 230 members of staff at KAMK. Kajaani University of Applied Sciences has achieved success nationally in Ministry of Education and Culture outcome barometers where the quality of teaching and counselling has been considered the best in Finland for several years running. In addition, based on student feedback, the student satisfaction was the highest in Finland at KAMK in 2019. The Finnish Education Evaluation Centre (FINEEC) has awarded KAMK a quality label which is valid until 20 March 2021. Ammattikorkeakoulu
An ammattikorkeakoulu (yrkeshögskola in Swedish, polytechnic or university of applied sciences in English), abbreviated ''AMK'', is a Finnish institution of higher education. The term literally means "school of higher vocational education". Although the term is often translated into English as "polytechnic", the Finnish Ministry of Education and Culture and the Rectors' Conference of Finnish Universities of Applied Sciences use the term "university of applied sciences". Unlike universities, AMKs focus on R&D by applying previous knowledge, rather than producing new research. They have a statutory objective in regional development. Kajaani
Kajaani (; sv, Kajana) is the most populous town and the capital of the Kainuu Region of Finland. It is located southeast of Lake Oulu (Oulujärvi), which drains into the Gulf of Bothnia through the Oulu River (Oulujoki). As of , it had a population of . The town was founded in the 17th century, fueled by the growth of the tar industry, but it was preceded by a long history of settlements. During the Great Northern War it succumbed to Russian forces, who ruined Kajaani Castle in 1716. Kainuu
Kainuu ( sv, Kajanaland) is one of the 19 regions of Finland (''maakunta'' / ''landskap''). Kainuu borders the regions of North Ostrobothnia, North Savo and North Karelia.
