Kain Tapper
Kain Tapper (6 June 1930, in Saarijärvi – 17 August 2004) was a Finnish sculptor. He created works that are "remote", evoking things contemplated from a distance. Even when small, his pieces loom like menhirs, their massiveness imposing an inhuman scale. He combined nature and natural phenomena, old folklore and modernism. He epitomised the Informalist style in Finnish sculpture. Ilmari Kianto
Ilmari Kianto (7 May 1874 – 27 April 1970), also known as Ilmari Calamnius and Ilmari Iki-Kianto, was a Finnish author. He was born in Pulkkila, Northern Ostrobothnia, and is best known for his books ''Punainen viiva'' ("The Red Line", published 1909) and ''Ryysyrannan Jooseppi'' (published in 1924). In his books, he describes people and living at Suomussalmi municipality in Kainuu region. He died in Helsinki, aged 95. Composer Jean Sibelius used Kianto's poem 'Lastu lainehilla' (Driftwood) as the lyric for the last of his Seven Songs, Op.17 (1902). Kianto's books have also been adapted into films, most notably the 1955 film ' directed by Roland af Hällström and the 1959 film ''The Red Line'' directed by Matti Kassila. – |

Suomussalmi () is a municipality in Finland and is located in the Kainuu region about northeast of Kajaani, the capital of Kainuu and south of Kuusamo. Ämmänsaari is the biggest built-up area in the municipality. Suomussalmi is the second southernmost part of the reindeer-herding area in Finland. Informalism or Art Informel is a Painting, pictorial movement from the 1943–1950s, that includes all the Abstract painting, abstract and Action painting, gestural tendencies that developed in France and the rest of Europe during the World War II, similar to United States, American abstract expressionism started 1946. Several distinguishing trends are identified within the movement such as lyrical abstraction, Matterism, matter painting, Paris School, New Paris School, tachisme and art brut. The France, French art critic Michel Tapié coined the term "art autre" (other art) in the Homonym, homonymous book published in 1952 in relation to non-geometric abstract art. It was instrumental in improving the concept of abstract art in France during the Early 1950s. Modernism
Modernism is both a philosophy, philosophical and arts movement that arose from broad transformations in Western world, Western society during the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
