Kahaloo Upazila ( bn, কাহালু উপজেলা) is an upazila of Bogra District in the Division of Rajshahi, Bangladesh. Kahaloo Thana was established in 1928 and was converted into an upazila in 1983. It is named after its administrative center, the town of Kahaloo. Geography Kahaloo Upazila has a total area of . It is bounded on the west by the Nagar River (across which lies Dhupchanchia Upazila). It borders Shibganj Upazila to the north, Bogra Sadar and Shajahanpur upazilas to the east, Nandigram Upazila to the southwest, and Adamdighi Upazila to the west. The Asiatic Society of Bangladesh is a non political and non profit research organisation registered under both Society Act of 1864 and NGO Bureau, Government of Bangladesh. The Asiatic Society of Bangladesh was established as the Asiatic Society of East Pakistan in Dhaka in 1952 by a number of Muslim leaders, and renamed in 1972. Ahmed Hasan Dani, a noted Muslim historian and archaeologist of Pakistan played an important role in founding this society. He was assisted by Muhammad Shahidullah, a Bengali linguist. Santahar–Kaunia Line
The Santahar–Kaunia line is a dual-gauge railway line connecting Santahar and Kaunia in Bangladesh, under the jurisdiction of Bangladesh Railway. From 1878 to 2010 it was a single line of metre gauge . Between 2010 and 2013, Bangladesh Railway converted the track to also include a line, with help of Indian Railways. Union council ( bn, ইউনিয়ন পরিষদ, translit=iūniyan pariṣad, translit-std=IAST), also known as union parishad, rural council, rural union and simply union, is the smallest rural administrative and local government unit in Bangladesh. Each union council is made up of nine wards. Usually one village is designated as a ward. There are 4,562 unions in Bangladesh. A union council consists of a chairman and twelve members including three members exclusively reserved for women. Union councils are formed under the ''Local Government (Union Parishads) Act, 2009''. 2011 Bangladesh Census
In 2011, the Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics, conducted a national census in Bangladesh, which provided a provisional estimate of the total population of the country as 142,319,000. The previous decennial census was the 2001 census. Data were recorded from all of the districts and upazilas and main cities in Bangladesh including statistical data on population size, households, sex and age distribution, marital status, economically active population, literacy and educational attainment, religion, number of children etc. Bangladesh and India also conducted their first joint census of areas along their border in 2011. According to the census, Hindus constituted 8.5 per cent of the population as of 2011, down from 9.6 per cent in the 2001 census. Bangladesh have a population of 144,043,697 as per 2011 census report. Adamdighi Upazila ( bn, আদমদিঘী উপজেলা) is an upazila of Bogra District in the Division of Rajshahi, Bangladesh. Adamdighi Thana was established in 1821 and was converted into an upazila in 1983. It is named after its administrative center, the town of Adamdighi. The name derives from Adam's Dighi, which means Adam's Tank. Adam was a great Muslim saint or dervish, known as Baba Adam ( bn, বাবা আদম). Etymology Baba Adam is very popular among the people of the locality, and commands as much respect from Hindus as from Muslims. Baba Adam is said to have been a contemporary of the famous Rani Bhabani (1716–1795) of Natore, who it is said, with her characteristics magnanimity had a tank dug at the place and dedicated it to the saintly ''fakir'' in honour of his supernatural powers.
