Kadıköy Anatolian High School
Kadıköy Anatolian High School (), also commonly known as Kadıköy Maarif College, abbreviated Kadıköy Maarif or KAL, is one of the oldest, most prestigious Anatolian High Schools and internationally renowned high schools of Turkey; located in Moda, Istanbul. The education languages are Turkish and English. Secondary foreign language offered is German. History The original building, which unfortunately exists no more, dates back to before World War I and was built by the Franciscan Capuchin Order. The building was inhabited by the followers of this sect for many years. After the National Ministry of Education decided to open a high school in Kadikoy district, negotiations that lasted many years took place between the ministry and the Capuchins. In 1955 the school opened as Kadıköy Maarif. In 1968 a second building was added to the school which served as a dormitory. In 1976 and 1977 two more buildings were added. Derya Büyükuncu
Derya Büyükuncu (; born 2 July 1976) is a six-time Olympic backstroke and butterfly swimmer from Turkey. The tall athlete at is a member of Galatasaray Swimming. His coach is Zehra Büyükuncu. He participated in six consecutive Summer Olympic Games: 1992 Barcelona, 1996 Atlanta, 2000 Sydney, 2004 Athens, 2008 Beijing, 2012 London. He is one of the first two (together with Lars Frölander) swimmers to participate in six Olympic Games. Early years At the age of nine, Büyükuncu became a national swimmer, and won a bronze medal in the 12-year-age category at the 1985 Balkan Swimming Championships held in Bulgaria. Mert Yücel
Mert Yücel is a Turkish electronic music producer from Istanbul. At the age of 22, Yücel produced the first house music album released in Turkey. He his career singles have included; "Dreamer", released on US and UK labels including Baroque Records, Subversive Records, and Choo Choo Records. Yücel released a 2002 remix of DJ VIBE's track "So Get Up" featuring lyrics and vocals by the Californian songwriter/visual artist, Ithaka (Ithaka Darin Pappas) for (Kaos Records/Tribal America). Mazhar Alanson
Mahmut Mazhar Alanson (born February 13, 1950) is a Turkish musician, guitarist, member of the popular Turkish pop music band MFÖ, and an actor. Early life He was born on February 13, 1950, to a family of musicians in Ankara, Turkey, where his father was the head trumpeter in the State Philharmonic Orchestra. He attended Kadıköy Anadolu Lisesi, commonly known as Kadıköy Maarif College for his high school education in Istanbul following his father's death. Hasret Gültekin
Hasret Şükrü Gültekin (1 May 1971 – 2 July 1993) was a Kurdish–Turkish musician and poet. He was murdered in the Sivas massacre, along with 34 other people in the Sivas Province of Turkey when an Islamist mob set fire to the Madımak Hotel. He was Alevi. Gültekin was born in the Han village of Sivas as the third child of Süleyman and Hacıhanım Gültekin. Bülent Ortaçgil (born 1 March 1950) is a Turkish composer and singer. Biography He was born in Ankara, Turkey in 1950. He moved to Istanbul after starting elementary school which he finished at Sultanahmet Elementary School in Istanbul. He completed his middle school and high school education at Kadıköy Anadolu Lisesi which is also commonly known as Kadıköy Maarif College. Seyhan Erözçelik (13 March 1962 – 24 August 2011) was a Turkish people, Turkish poet. Biography He was born in 1962 in Bartın, Turkey, a town in the Black Sea region. He studied psychology at Boğazici University and Oriental languages at Istanbul University. In 1986, he co-founded the Şiir Atı publishing house, which published over forty titles in the 1980s.
