Kacper Filipiak
Kacper Filipiak (born 19 November 1995) is a former Polish professional snooker player. He turned professional in 2011 after winning the European Under-21 Championship, and became Poland's first player on snooker's professional Main Tour. He was the first Polish player to make a 147 in competitive competition, doing so in a PLS Top 16 match against Marcin Nitschke. He was also a professional player from 2019 to 2021, having qualified by winning the 2019 EBSA European Snooker Championship. Career Debut season The 2011/2012 snooker season was Filipiak's first as a professional. At the age of 15 he became the youngest professional player. Filipiak performed impressively at the Snooker World Cup, beating the likes of John Higgins, Stephen Maguire and Marco Fu in the singles matches; this led to him being tipped as a future world champion by Ronnie O'Sullivan. Players Tour Championship 2014/2015
The Players Tour Championship 2014/2015 was a series of snooker tournaments which started on 17 June 2014 and ended on 28 March 2015, with events held across Europe and Asia. In this season the European events formed the European Tour and events held in Asia the Asian Tour. The nine regular minor-ranking events concluded with the Finals. The 2015–16 snooker season was a series of snooker tournaments played between 7 May 2015 and 2 May 2016. The World Grand Prix became a ranking event featuring the top 32 players on a one-year money list, having been a non-ranking event the previous season. 2010–11 Snooker Season
The 2010–11 snooker season was a series of snooker tournaments played between 20 May 2010 and 2 May 2011. The German Masters was the first ranking tournament in Germany since the 1997/1998 season. The Grand Prix was renamed to World Open, and the format of the tournament was change with 32 amateurs joining the Main Tour professionals. The Players Tour Championship minor-ranking series was introduced to the calendar. These events were open to amateurs and professional with a separate Order of Merit. The top 24 in the Order of Merit qualified to the Finals, which was a ranking event. The Premier League was for the first time part of the Main Tour. The Jiangsu Classic was renamed to the Wuxi Classic, and other events were introduced to the calendar: the new cue sport Power Snooker, the World Seniors Championship, and Snooker Shoot Out. 2020–21 Snooker Season
The 2020–21 snooker season was a professional snooker season with tournaments played from 13 September 2020 to 9 May 2021. As a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, the season was played almost entirely without a live audience with only the 2021 World Snooker Championship being played in front of a crowd. All snooker tournaments in the season were played in the United Kingdom, due to travel and quarantine restrictions preventing the tour and players from utilising usual venues. Judd Trump won five ranking events during the season, whilst Mark Selby won the 2021 World Snooker Championship, to win his fourth world championship. Trump retained the world number one spot throughout the season, also reaching the final of the 2020 UK Championship, losing to Neil Robertson. 2019–20 Snooker Season
The 2019–20 snooker season was a series of professional snooker tournaments played between 9 May 2019 and 22 August 2020. In total, 47 events were held during the season: however, the ending of the season was highly disrupted by the declaration of the COVID-19 pandemic. 18 world ranking tournaments were planned to take place, but only 17 were played. An event was held in Austria, the first time in any snooker season, while the 2020 China Open was cancelled. The Tour Championship and the World Snooker Championship were postponed, and the Gibraltar Open played with no audience. The season contained 128 professional tour players, 35 of which had been given new two-year places on the tour from a combination of invitations and qualifying events. Andrew Higginson
Andrew Higginson (born 13 December 1977) is an English former professional snooker player from Widnes, Cheshire. He is best known for being the surprise finalist of the 2007 Welsh Open. Career Early years After some success in amateur tournaments, Higginson turned professional for the 2000/2001 season after finishing third on the Challenge Tour. He remained there for five seasons before dropping off, after encountering limited success. He won a place back on the tour for 2006/2007 after finishing second on the Pontins' International Open Series. The European Tour 2015/2016 – Event 6 (also known as the 2016 Gdynia Open) was a professional minor-ranking snooker tournament held between 23 and 28 February 2016 in Gdynia, Poland. Neil Robertson was the defending champion, but he chose not to defend his title. Josh Boileau
Josh Boileau (born 2 July 1995 in Newbridge, County Kildare) is a former Irish professional snooker player. He is the 2016 Under-21 European Snooker Champion. Career In 2014 Boileau entered the EBSA European Under-21 Snooker Championships in Bucharest where he reached the final, before he lost 6–1 Oliver Lines. Two years following his disappointment in Bucharest, Boileau once again made it to the final where he defeated Brandon Sargeant 6–1 to win the 2016 EBSA European Under-21 Snooker Championship, as a result he was given a two-year card on the professional World Snooker Tour for the 2016–17 and 2017–18 seasons. Oliver Lines
Oliver Lines (born 16 June 1995) is an English professional snooker player who practices at Northern Snooker Centre in Leeds. He is the son of professional snooker player Peter Lines. Career Amateur Lines switched sports from football to snooker at aged 14. His progression continued by entering into the Players Tour Championship events in 2011, but made little impact in the 2011/2012 season. 2012/2013 saw major improvement and a notable 4–3 over Joe Perry in 2012 UKPTC 3. He also entered Q School for the first time in May 2013 in the hope of qualifying on the main but failed to do after securing four wins in the three events.
