Kabir
Kabir Das (1398–1518) was a 15th-century Indian mystic poet and saint. His writings influenced Hinduism's Bhakti movement, and his verses are found in Sikhism's scripture Guru Granth Sahib, the Satguru Granth Sahib of Saint Garib Das, and Kabir Sagar. Born in the city of Varanasi in what is now Uttar Pradesh, he is known for being critical of both organized religion and religions. He questioned what he regarded to be the meaningless and unethical practices of all religions, primarily what he considered to be the wrong practices in the Hindu and Muslim religions. During his lifetime, he was threatened by both Hindus and Muslims for his views. When he died, several Hindus and the Muslims he had inspired claimed him as theirs. Rokeya Rahman Kabeer (4 October 1925 – 28 July 2000) was a Bangladeshi academic and feminist. Early life Kabeer was born on 4 October 1925 in Kolkata, West Bengal in Presidencies and provinces of British India, British India. Her father, Mujibur Rahman, was an Indian Civil Service officer. She studied in Loreto Convent, Darjeeling. She graduated from Lady Brabourne College in geography. She completed her master's degree from Presidency College Calcutta in history. Jayashree Kabir (; born 1952) is a Bengali film actress. She acted in around 30 films in West Bengal and Bangladesh. Humayun Kabir (other)
Humayun Kabir (1906-1969) was an Indian educationist and politician. He was also a poet, essayist and novelist in the Bengali-language. He was also a renowned political thinker. He was educated at Exeter College, Oxford and graduated in 1931. Kabir had been heavily involved with the Oxford Union during his student days, having been elected secretary in 1930 and librarian in 1931. He made his farewell speech on the motion: 'This House condemns the Indian policy of His Majesty's Government'. Kabir had also been involved with the student newspapers, the Isis and the Cherwell, and the Oxford Majlis journal, Bharat. Upon his return to India, Kabir taught at a number of universities.
