The tower for KBBS, east of Buffalo on Stockyard Road KBBS (1450 AM) is a commercial radio station licensed to Buffalo, Wyoming. The station carries a classic country format, primarily originating from Cumulus Media. The station is currently owned by Big Horn Mountain Radio Network, a division of Legend Communications of Wyoming, LLC. The station's 1,000 watt signal covers most of north central Wyoming, and can be received in Gillette when conditions are favorable. KBBS also broadcasts local high school sports and University of Wyoming athletics programming. KBBS is located in the same facility as KLGT, and KZZS, at 1221 Fort Street, in Buffalo. Sheridan, Wyoming
Sheridan is a town in the U.S. state of Wyoming and the county seat of Sheridan County. The town is located halfway between Yellowstone Park and Mount Rushmore by U.S. Route 14 and 16. It is the principal town of the Sheridan, Wyoming, Micropolitan Statistical Area which encompasses all of Sheridan County. The 2010 census put the town's population at 17,444 and the Sheridan, Wyoming, Micropolitan Statistical Area at 29,116, making it the 421st-most populous micropolitan area in the United States. History The city was named after General Philip Sheridan, Union cavalry leader in the American Civil War. Several battles between US Cavalry and the Sioux, Cheyenne, Arapaho, Shoshone, and Crow Indian tribes occurred in the area in the 1860s and 1870s before the town was built. KHRW (92.7 FM, "Grace FM") is a radio station licensed to Ranchester, Wyoming, United States. It serves the Sheridan area, and carries a Contemporary Christian format. The station is currently owned by Legend Communications of Wyoming, LLC. History The station began as KHRW on September 1, 2006. At that time, the station carried a religious format and was owned by Horizon Christian Fellowship. It served the Ranchester area. In 2009, the station was sold to Global News Consultants, LLC. Legend Communications of Wyoming, LLC, operated the station following the sale. The station returned to air in April 2011 with a classic hits format provided by Dial Global Networks. Story is a census-designated place (CDP) in Sheridan County, Wyoming, United States. As of the 2020 census, the CDP population was 903. History of the region The region around Story was part of the history of the American Frontier and the Old West, and of the conflicts between early settlers and the Plains Indians. The historic Bozeman Trail passed nearby in the mid-1860s, and Fort Phil Kearny, now a State Historic Site, lies just 5 miles south of town. Fort Sheridan was just to the north, near what is now the city of Sheridan. Fort Phil Kearny, known to the Plains Indians as the "hated post on the Little Piney", played an important role in Red Cloud's War (1866-1868), and the area around the fort was the site of the Fetterman massacre and the Wagon Box Fight.
