KZAI (103.7 FM) is a radio station broadcasting a Christian Worship format through the nationally programmed Air1 network. The station is licensed to Balcones Heights, Texas, United States, and serves the San Antonio area. The transmitter is located in San Antonio proper, due north of downtown and adjacent to Interstate 10. KZAI is owned by the Educational Media Foundation. Licensed to Odem, Texas, United States, the station serves the Corpus Christi area and is owned by the Educational Media Foundation. History On April 2, 1985, KXTO signed on at 98.3 MHz. The station, initially operating as a 3,000-watt outlet, was originally owned by Capi Spanish Broadcasting and aired a bilingual format of Spanish-language, oldies and top 40 music. The KXTO call letters were switched to KKHQ on January 29, 1988. By the early 1990s, Capi was bankrupt. KZAR (97.7 FM) is an Air 1 affiliate radio station licensed to McQueeney, Texas, United States. The station serves the San Antonio area with a contemporary worship music format. The station is owned by Educational Media Foundation. History KZAR began operations in July 1989 as KQRO-FM, a 3 kilowatt class A facility licensed to Cuero, Texas, changing call letters to KVCQ in 1995, KNGT in 2003, and KLTO-FM in 2005. It moved to its current tower, licensed to McQueeney, Texas, and upgraded to the current C1 class by 2008. When it moved to San Antonio, KLTO-FM broadcast a reggaeton format until 2008, then changed to rock under the "977 Rock" branding.
