KVLY (107.9 MHz) is a commercial FM radio station licensed to Edinburg, Texas, and serving the Rio Grande Valley. The station is currently owned by Entravision Communications and broadcasts an adult contemporary radio format, switching to Christmas music for part of December. It shares studios and offices on North Jackson Road in McAllen with its sister stations: KFRQ, KKPS and KNVO-FM. A call sign can be formally assigned by a government agency, informally adopted by individuals or organizations, or even cryptographically encoded to disguise a station's identity. The use of call signs as unique identifiers dates to the landline railroad telegraph system.
