Riverton, Wyoming
Riverton is a city in Fremont County, Wyoming, United States. The city's population was 10,682 at the 2020 census, making it the largest city in the county. History The city, founded in 1906, is an incorporated entity of the state of Wyoming. The community was named Riverton because of the four rivers that meet there. The town was built on land ceded from the Wind River Indian Reservation, a situation that often makes it subject to jurisdictional claims by the nearby Eastern Shoshone and Northern Arapaho tribes. A legal ruling on November 7, 2017, by the 10th Circuit Court, ruled again in the EPA reservation boundary dispute. Though the decision was complex, the 10th Circuit Court answered plainly. Riverton is not on the reservation. The 10th Circuit's decision is now official and final after the 10th Circuit Court of Appeals 2017 ruling. KDNO (101.7 FM) is a classic country radio station in Thermopolis, Wyoming. The station is owned by Jerry and Steve Edwards, through licensee Edwards Communications, LC and features programming from CBS News Radio and Compass Media Networks. The majority owner of Edwards Communications, LC is also the owner of KFCW and KWYW. The call letters used to belong to what is now KDFO-FM in Delano, California from 1970 to 1997. KDNO covers most of Hot Springs County and reaches most of Fremont County and can be heard in Riverton and as far north as Worland. KTHE (Wyoming)
KTHE was an AM radio station licensed to Thermopolis, Wyoming and broadcasting at 1240 kHz. The station broadcast an adult standards format. It signed on in August 1955. The tower for KTHE was located near the mouth of Wind River Canyon. It was previously located just outside Hot Springs State Park next to its former studios. The studios were relocated to 420 Arapahoe Street in Thermopolis. The station's license was surrendered for cancellation to the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) on September 3, 2014, and the FCC cancelled the license on September 8, 2014, leaving no locally licensed AM stations in Thermopolis. Edwards Communications had originally planned to develop KTHE however those plans did not go through. Signal KTHE broadcast a 1,000 watt signal day and night.
