KMFDM Discography
The industrial rock band KMFDM has released more than two hundred songs in their over-forty-year-long career spanning more than fifty unique releases. Artwork Beginning with the British release of 1986's ''What Do You Know, Deutschland?'', British artist Aidan "Brute!" Hughes has designed the artwork for nineteen of KMFDM's twenty-one studio albums and all but two of their singles. He has also designed the artwork for their three remix albums and two live albums, and their 2010 compilation releases. KMFDM
KMFDM (originally Kein Mehrheit Für Die Mitleid, loosely translated by the band as "no pity for the majority") is a multinational industrial band from Hamburg led by Sascha Konietzko, who founded the band in 1984 as a performance art project. The band's earliest incarnation included German drummer En Esch and British vocalist Raymond Watts, the latter of whom left and rejoined the group several times over its history. The trio recorded the band's earliest albums in Germany before Konietzko and Esch moved to the United States, where they found much greater success with seminal industrial record label Wax Trax!. German guitarist Günter Schulz joined in 1990; both he and Esch continued with the band until KMFDM broke up in 1999. Francesca Sundsten (1960 – March 9, 2019) was an American painter. She applied traditional techniques while exploring elements of composition, palette, and minor abstractions of space and paint to create paintings and illustrations which were described by ''The Seattle Times'' as "calling to mind the Old Masters" with a "distinctly surrealist sensibility." Life and career Born in Hemet, California, Sundsten's family moved to the Seattle area when she was three. She began painting seriously in her early 20s, and enrolled at the San Francisco Art Institute in 1984. Sundsten's interest was in representational painting, a style which was discouraged in her undergraduate program, and after seeing an Odd Nerdrum exhibit at the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, she traveled to Oslo to study with him. The album marked the return of former band member Raymond Watts and the first appearance of journeyman drummer Bill Rieflin, and was mostly written by frontman Sascha Konietzko. The album's first single "Juke Joint Jezebel" is the band's most widely known song, with millions of copies sold over various releases. ''Angst'' is the seventh studio album by German industrial band KMFDM, released on October 13, 1993 by Wax Trax! Records. Background Bandmates Sascha Konietzko and En Esch began working together again after splitting up during the recording of their previous album, ''Money''. Konietzko had moved to Seattle in 1993, while Esch had moved to New Orleans, Louisiana. ''Angst'' was the first album the band recorded in America with new engineer Chris Shepard, after recording their first six albums in Hamburg, the previous four of which had all been engineered by Blank Fontana. ''Money'' is the sixth studio album by German industrial band KMFDM, released in February 1992 by Wax Trax! Records. It was originally intended to be titled ''Apart'', with each of the two core members, Sascha Konietzko and En Esch, recording half an album and combining their work. The album ended up using only Konietzko's half, along with additional songs. It received mixed reviews, but spawned a number of club hits. It went out of print in the late 1990s and was re-released in 2006. History Bandmates Sascha Konietzko and En Esch had a falling out at the end of their 1990 tour with My Life with the Thrill Kill Kult. ''Naïve'' is the fifth studio album by German industrial band KMFDM, released on November 15, 1990 by Wax Trax! Records. It was recorded following KMFDM's return from their first visit to the United States and subsequent tour with Ministry. It was also the first record they released after signing directly to Wax Trax! Records. Background The album was out of print for over a decade due to copyright infringement: the seventh track "Liebeslied" used unauthorized samples from a recording of "O Fortuna", from Carl Orff's 1930s cantata ''Carmina Burana''. The album was recalled approximately three years after being released. Copies today are rare and considered collector's items. In addition to this, " Godlike" samples " Angel of Death" by Slayer. All of the tracks on the album, except for the original mixes of "Die Now-Live Later", "Liebeslied" and "Go to Hell" were subsequently available on other discs.
