Košarkaški klub Lovćen 1947, commonly referred to as KK Lovćen 1947, is a men's professional basketball club based in Cetinje, Montenegro. The team currently competes in the Montenegrin Basketball League. During their history, Lovćen competed in First League of FR Yugoslavia (Serbia and Montenegro) ABA League, Adriatic Basketball League, Balkan International Basketball League and in the FIBA Korać Cup. History In Cetinje basketball began to play after the end of World War II. Basketball Club Lovćen was created as a basketball section of Gymnastics Society from Cetinje. Near the old football playground, in the city park, in 1947, the first basketball court was built in Cetinje. First Lovćen's participation in a competition was the third Championship of Montenegro, in June 1949 in Cetinje. The Prva A liga, for sponsorships reasons named the Erste Liga, is the top-tier professional basketball league in Montenegro. It is the highest basketball division organized by the Basketball Association of Montenegro (KSCG). It was established in 2006. shortly after Montenegro declared its independence from Serbia and Montenegro. The league is sponsored by and named after Erste Bank. Currently, two clubs from the area are playing in the regional ABA League. The FIBA Korać Cup was an annual basketball club competition held by FIBA between the 1971–72 and 2001–02 seasons. It was the third-tier level club competition in European basketball, after the FIBA European Champions' Cup (later renamed the EuroLeague) and the FIBA Cup Winners' Cup (later renamed the FIBA Saporta Cup). The Balkan International Basketball League (BIBL), also known as the Balkan League, is a multinational professional basketball league that features mostly clubs from the Balkans. The league included teams from countries as Bulgaria, North Macedonia, Montenegro, Kosovo, Albania and Israel. The most recent league champion is Hapoel Galil Elyon from Israel.
