Košarkaški klub Knjaževac 1950 ( sr-cyrl, Кошаркашки клуб Књажевац 1950), commonly referred to as Knjaževac, is a men's basketball club based in Knjaževac, Serbia. They are currently competing in the First Regional League of Serbia, East Division. The club was founded in 1950 and was named after its host city. History 2011–2016 After 5 good seasons in the First Regional League the club stopped competing following the 2015–16 season. In the final season Knjaževac 1950 did not qualify to the Second Basketball league of Serbia for 2016–17 season. They have had a 82–79 road win over won Rtanj in the 1st game but then had a 84–75 home loss which was insufficient for advance to the Second Basketball league of Serbia in the 2016–17 season due to points difference. First Men's Regional League ( sr-cyrl, Прва мушка регионална лига, Prva muška regionalna liga), previously First Serbian League, is the men's regional basketball league in Serbia. It is the 3rd-tier of the basketball league system in Serbia. Founded in 2006, it is run by the Basketball Federation of Serbia (KSS). Rules Competition format The league, operated by the Basketball Federation of Serbia and regional basketball associations, consists of four divisions, North, Central, East and West, which have 14 teams each. The first team in every division will be promoted to the Second Basketball League of Serbia. Knjaževac
Knjaževac ( sr-cyr, Књажевац, ) is a town and municipality located in the Zaječar District of the eastern Serbia. As of 2011, the municipality has a population of 31,491 inhabitants, while the town has 18,404 inhabitants. The town is situated between three mountains, in the geographical region of the Timok Valley bordering Bulgaria. History In the Roman period, ''Timacum Minus'' existed within the present municipality. In 1833, the town, formerly known as ''Gurgusovac'', was liberated from the Ottoman Empire and was administrated into the Krajina nahija of the Principality of Serbia in 1834. Second Men's League of Serbia ( sr-cyr, Друга мушка лига Србије, Druga muška liga Srbije), previously Basketball League of Serbia B, is the second-tier level men's professional basketball league in Serbia. Founded in 2006, it is run by the Basketball Federation of Serbia (KSS). Rules Competition format The league, operated by the Basketball Federation of Serbia, has 14 teams. From the 2012–13 season, the top two teams in Second League goes to First League of Serbia.
