KQDE broadcasts an urban contemporary music format to Kalispell, Montana, and The Flathead. History This station received its original construction permit from the Federal Communications Commission on January 26, 2006. The new station was assigned the call letters KQJZ by the FCC on April 26, 2006. In November 2006, permit holder Advance Acquisition, Inc., reached an agreement to sell this still-under construction station to Anderson Radio Broadcasting, Inc., for a reported sale price of $200,000. The deal was approved by the FCC on January 12, 2007, and after a series of extensions the transaction was consummated on February 29, 2008. Kalispell (, Montana Salish: Ql̓ispé, Kutenai language: kqayaqawakⱡuʔnam) is a city in, and the county seat of, Flathead County, Montana, United States. The 2020 census put Kalispell's population at 24,558. In Montana's northwest region, it is the largest city, and the commercial center, of the Kalispell Micropolitan Statistical Area. The name Kalispell is a Salish word meaning "flat land above the lake". History Using his own capital, Charles Edward Conrad, a businessman and banker from Fort Benton, Montana, formed the Kalispell Townsite Company with three other men. The townsite was quickly platted and lots began selling by the spring of 1891. Conrad built a large mansion in Kalispell in 1895. Kalispell was officially incorporated as a city in 1892. Bigfork is a census-designated place (CDP) in Flathead County, Montana, United States. It is within Montana's Rocky Mountains. The population was 4,270 at the 2010 census, up from 1,421 in 2000. History Some say the name "Bigfork" is derived from the Salish name for the area. However Bigfork is a fork where two rivers, the Flathead River and the Swan River, flow in to the Flathead Lake. There are reports of a homestead and orchard immediately north of Bigfork as early as 1885. Everit L. Sliter set out 500 apple, cherry, plum, and pear trees in 1892 on Flathead Lake's east shore. He became the first postmaster in 1901. In 1902, he platted the Bigfork townsite at the mouth of the Swan River. The east shore has since become a major cherry-growing area. FM broadcasting is a method of radio broadcasting using frequency modulation (FM).
