K-1 World Grand Prix 2008 In Taipei
''K-1 World Grand Prix 2008 in Seoul Final 16'' was a martial arts event held by the K-1 on Saturday September 27, 2008 at the Olympic Gymnastics Arena in Seoul, Korea. It was the Final Elimination tournament for top sixteen fighters. The winners qualified for the K-1 World GP 2008 Final held on December 6, 2008 at Yokohama Arena, Japan. The eight finalists from K-1 World GP 2007 Final were automatically qualified, then four World GP 2008 tournament winners in Amsterdam, Fukuoka, Taipei and Hawaii. The last four spots were selected by fan voting. The K-1 World GP 2008 Final 16 attracted a crowd of 15,769 to the Seoul Olympic Complex and was broadcast live across South Korea by CJ Media and in Japan on the Fuji TV Network. Olympic Gymnastics Arena
The Olympic Gymnastics Arena (), also known as the KSPO Dome since 2018, is an indoor arena located within the Olympic Park in Seoul, South Korea. It has a capacity of 15,000 and can be extended upto 20,000. It was constructed between 31 August 1984 and 30 April 1986, to host the gymnastics competitions at the 1988 Summer Olympics. The roof was designed by David H. Geiger. It is a self-supporting cable dome – the first of its kind ever built – with a four-layer fabric cladding. History Since the Olympics it has hosted a variety of events, notably as a concert venue for both South Korean and international artists. The arena is also infamous due to an incident in early 1992 when American boy band New Kids on the Block abruptly halted their performance after 20 minutes due to a fatal human crush incident where female Korean teenagers swarmed the band to the stage. Freddy Kemayo
Freddy Kemayo (born May 6, 1982) is a French heavyweight kickboxer. He is a three-time French Kickboxing Champion. Biography and career Kemayo joined Faucon Gym in 1999 and has been training there under Bingo and Richard Roudy ever since. In 2002 he became the French Kickboxing Champion and in 2003 made his K-1 debut in Milan, Italy at the K-1 Preliminary Tournament. His first success in K-1 came on April 16, 2005 at K-1 2005 Italy, when he defeated Lorenzo Borgomeo and Ionut Iftimoaie and reached the tournament finals, where he was stopped by Alexander Ustinov by unanimous decision. On February 4, 2008 at K-1 European Qualification Kemayo knocked out Sergei Gur and qualified for K-1 World GP 2008 in Amsterdam, Netherlands. Makoto Uehara ( ja, 上原 誠; born November 14, 1984) is a Japanese Shidokan Karateka and heavyweight kickboxer competing in K-1. He is the former RISE Heavyweight and Light Heavyweight champion. Yong-soo Park (born 1981) is a South Korean taekwondo practitioner and heavyweight kickboxer who has fought professionally in K-1. Nobu Hayashi
Nobu Hayashi ( ja, 林伸樹; born April 27, 1978) is a professional Japanese Heavyweight karateka and kickboxer. He is a two-time K-1 Japan tournament runner-up and holds notable wins over Ben Edwards, Sander Thonhauser and Faisal Zakaria. Hayashi fights out of Dojo Chakuriki Japan in Tokyo, Japan. Hayashi was diagnosed with Leukemia, but was recently able to recover and is now cancer free. Biography and career Nobu Hayashi was born in the Japanese city of Tokushima. Aleksandr Pitchkounov
Aleksandr N. Pitchkounov (russian: Александр Николаевич Пичкунов; born May 6, 1979) is a former Russian heavyweight kickboxer and kyokushin karateka competing in K-1. He was the runner up at the K-1 World GP 2007 in Hawaii and K-1 World GP 2008 in Taipei tournament. Background Pitchkounov began training in Kyokushin kaikan at age of 13 in 1993. He became a black belt in 1999 and started training kickboxing a year later after being interested by watching K-1-competitions. Brian "Bad Ass" Douwes (born 21 November 1987 in Beverwijk) is a Dutch kickboxer fighting out of Team Spirit, formerly known as Top Team Beverwijk in Beverwijk. He competed in K-1, Enfusion Live, Superkombat and Glory. As of 1 May 2017, he is ranked the #10 light-heavyweight in the world by Combat Press.
