K-1 World Grand Prix 2006
''K-1 World Grand Prix 2006 in Tokyo Final'' was a kickboxing promoted by the K-1 ortheminutes each, with a possible tiebreaker. The tournament qualifiers had all qualified via elimination fights at the K-1 World Grand Prix 2006 in Osaka Opening Round. Losing fighters Musashi and Ray Sefo were invited as reserve fighters while Badr Hari and Paul Slowinski would face one another in a 'Super Fight'. Peter Aerts and Melvin Manhoef were also invited to the event as reservists. As well as tournament bouts there were also a number of 'Opening Fights' primarily involving local fighters, fought under K-1 Rules. In total there were eighteen fighters at the event, representing ten countries. The tournament winner was Semmy Schilt who won his second consecutive K-1 World Grand Prix by defeating Peter Aerts (who was making his fourth appearance in the final) via third round unanimous decision. Hiraku Hori
Hiraku Hori ( ja, 堀啓; born April 3, 1982) is a retired Japanese heavyweight kickboxer. A professional from 2001 until 2010, he competed almost exclusively in K-1. Career Hori made his professional debut at K-1 Survival 2001, winning via third-round knockout. After winning four of his next five, he faced MMA fighter Kazuhiro Nakamura at K-1 Beast 2003. After a competitive first round, Hori used his large reach advantage to attack Nakamura with a series of left roundhouse kicks, then knocked him out with a high kick. Hori was then pitted against fellow Japanese prospect Tatsufumi Tomihara in the quarterfinals of the K-1 Survival 2003 Japan Grand Prix. He won via decision, and moved on to face Musashi, the premiere heavyweight Japanese star at the time. Hori lost via TKO due to a low kick. is a Japanese heavyweight kickboxer from Tokyo, currently competing in K-1. Biography Sawayashiki, at only 19 years old, turned pro in 2004 and started fighting for R.I.S.E. kickboxing promotion in Japan. Stefan Leko (born June 3, 1974) is a German heavyweight kickboxer. He is the current WKA Super-Heavyweight world champion in kickboxing, and former Muay Thai world heavyweight champion and Kickboxing world super-heavyweight champion, WMTA, WKN, IKBO, IKBF, and WKA world champion, K-1 European Grand Prix 1998 champion, 1999 K-1 Dream champion and two time K-1 World Grand Prix in Las Vegas tournament champion. Gary Goodridge
Gary Henry Goodridge (born January 17, 1966), nicknamed "Big Daddy", is a Trinidadian-Canadian former heavyweight kickboxer and mixed martial artist fighting out of Barrie, Ontario. Prior to kickboxing and MMA, he was also one of the top ranked contenders in the world of professional arm wrestling. In early 2012, Goodridge was diagnosed with early onset of chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE). Early life Goodridge was born in Saint James, Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago before moving to Barrie, Ontario, Canada. Remy Kenneth Bonjasky (born January 10, 1976) is a Surinamese-Dutch former kickboxer. He is a three-time K-1 World Grand Prix heavyweight champion, winning the title in 2003, 2004, and 2008. Bonjasky has been known for his flying kicks, knee attacks and strong defense, hence the nickname "The Flying Gentleman". Background Bonjasky was born in Paramaribo, Suriname and moved to the Netherlands when he was 5 years old. Bonjasky was involved in football during his teens, but quit after breaking his leg. Glaube Feitosa
Glaube Araújo Feitosa (born April 9, 1973) is a Brazilian former kickboxer and a kyokushin full contact karate practitioner who was competing in K-1. In 2005, Feitosa won K-1 World Grand Prix 2005 in Las Vegas tournament and was a K-1 World Grand Prix 2005 finalist.
