Jüri Visk
Jüri Visk (1 January 1885 Halinga Parish (now Põhja-Pärnumaa Parish), Kreis Pernau – 30 August 1957 Sauga Selsoviet, Pärnu District) was an Estonian politician. He was a member of II Riigikogu, representing the Workers' United Front. He was a member of the Riigikogu since 24 September 1924. He replaced Boris Kumm. On 1 October 1924, he was removed from his position and he was replaced by Mihkel Pikkur. Visk's daughter was politician Erna Visk Erna Visk (4 May 1910 – 20 April 1983) was an Estonian and Soviet politician. Erna Visk was born in Pärnu. Kreis Pernau
Kreis Pernau (''Pärnu kreis'', ''Перновский уезд'') was one of the nine subdivisions of the Governorate of Livonia of the Russian Empire. It was situated in the northwestern part of the governorate (in present-day southwestern Estonia). The territory of Kreis Pernau corresponds to most of the present-day Pärnu County and parts of Viljandi County, Viljandi and Rapla County, Rapla counties. Demographics At the time of the Russian Empire Census of 1897, Kreis Pernau had a population of 98,123. Boris Kumm
Boris Kumm ( – 21 November 1958) was an Estonian communist politician. Biography Kumm was born in Pärnu. From 1919 until 1920, he participated in the Estonian War of Independence. In 1923, he joined the Communist Party of Estonia (EKP), and was elected to the Riigikogu, the Estonian parliament. After the EKP was banned in 1924, Kumm was arrested and sentenced to 15 years' hard labour. He was released in 1938. In 1938–1940 he organized the local EKP in Pärnu. In 1940, Estonia was occupied by the Soviet Union. Kumm served as People's Commissar for Internal Affairs of the Estonian SSR in 1940–1941 and People's Commissar for State Security of the Estonian SSR in 1941. When Nazi Germany occupied Estonia in 1941, Kumm fled to Moscow, where he continued working for the People's Commissariat for State Security. Erna Visk (4 May 1910 – 20 April 1983) was an Estonian and Soviet politician. Erna Visk was born in Pärnu. Her father was Workers' United Front politician Jüri Visk, who served in the II Riigikogu. She was appointed Minister of Social Security of the Estonian SSR in 1958.
