Just Fabritius
Gotthilf Just Fabritius (1 September 1703 – 7 May 1766) was a Danish merchant. History Just Fabritius was born in Copenhagen to German immigrants. His father was a wine merchant. He established his own trading house and had close ties to the state, both under the reign of Christian VI and Frederik V. He participated with great success in the expeditions to China and India which were planned and supported by Bernstorff on behalf of the state. He was one of the founders of Kurantbanken in 1736 and for a while served as its director. He became part of the board of directors of the Danish Africa Company in 1755. He took part in the preparations for the expedition led by Verrayon to the Levant with the aim of opening a new, lucrative market. The expedition was a failure but Fabritius avoided losses. Fabritius was appointed to Agent in 1743. In 1746, the king gifted him the Christiansholm estate north of Copenhagen. He later established a Calico textile manufactory at the site. He ... Holmen Cemetery (Danish: Holmens Kirkegård) is the oldest cemetery still in use in Copenhagen, Denmark. It was first located next to the naval Church of Holmen in the city centre but relocated to its current site on Dag Hammarskjölds Allé in the Østerbro district in 1666. The cemetery originally served as a burial site for indigent sailors in royal service and their families, complementing the military Garnisons Cemetery, from 1711 located on a neighbouring site. History When the anchor forge at Bremerholm was converted into a naval church by Christian IV in 1619, a churchyard was laid out next to it. Peter van Hemert (29 May 1734 - 20 May 1810) was a Danish merchant and shipowner. His family's trading house, Joost van Hemert & S'nner, existed until 1805. Early life and education Hemert was born in Copenhagen on 20 May 1734, the son of merchant and shipowner Joost van Hemert (1696–1775) and Petronelle Elisabeth Behagen, née Mestecker (1703–78). His mother was the widow of Anthony Behagen (1687–1727)), a wine merchant from Hamburg, and had brought a son, Gysbert Behagen, into the marriage. Peter van Hemert was educated in his father's company. Career In 1765, Hemert was granted citizenship as a merchant.
