Juncker–Asselborn Ministry I
The first Juncker–Asselborn Ministry was the government of Luxembourg between 31 July 2004 and 23 July 2009. It was led by, and named after, Prime Minister Jean-Claude Juncker and Deputy Prime Minister Jean Asselborn. It represented a coalition between Juncker's Christian Social People's Party (CSV) and Asselborn's Luxembourg Socialist Workers' Party (LSAP), after these had been elected the largest and second-largest parties respectively in the legislature, in the general election of 2004. Previously, the CSV had been governing in coalition with the liberal Democratic Party. Nicolas Schmit
Nicolas Schmit (born 10 December 1953) is a politician from Luxembourg serving as European Commissioner for Jobs and Social Rights since 2019. A member of the Luxembourg Socialist Workers' Party (LSAP), he was previously a member of the government of Luxembourg from 2004 to 2019 and a Member of the European Parliament (MEP) in 2019. Claude Wiseler
Claude Wiseler (born 30 January 1960 in Luxembourg City) is a Luxembourgish politician. He has been a member of the Christian Social People's Party (CSV) since 1983, and served in the government led by Jean-Claude Juncker until 2013. He attended the Athénée de Luxembourg, before studying literature in Paris. He returned to the Athénée to teach language in 1983, which he continued to do until 1988. From 1987 to 1999, he served as an adviser to the government on education issues. He became General Secretary of the Christian Social People's Party in 1995. He was elected to the Chamber of Deputies in the 1999 election, finishing sixth amongst CSV candidates in the Centre constituency, where six CSV deputies were elected. Lucien Lux
Lucien Lux (born 13 September 1956 in Troisvierges) is a politician and trade unionist from Luxembourg. A member of the Luxembourg Socialist Workers' Party, Lux was in the government from 2004 until 2009, under Jean-Claude Juncker. He worked for Chemins de Fer Luxembourgeois, and in 1978 joined the Confederation of Independent Trade Unions (OGB-L) as union secretary. Lux was the chairman of the Bettembourg branch of the Luxembourg Socialist Workers' Party (LSAP) from 1986, and he became mayor of Bettembourg on 1 January 1988, which he would hold until his appointment to the government.
