André-Damien-Ferdinand Jullien, P.S.S. (25 October 1882—11 January 1964) was a French Cardinal of the Roman Catholic Church. He served as Dean of the Roman Rota in the Roman Curia from 1944 to 1958, and was elevated to the cardinalate in 1958. Biography Born in Pelussin, Lyon, André Jullien studied at the seminary in Issy, the Seminary of Saint-Sulpice in Paris, and the Pontifical Roman Athenaeum ''S. Apollinare''. He was ordained to the priesthood on 1 October 1905, finished his studies in 1908 and then taught canon law at the Seminary of Lyon until 1912. He served as private secretary to Monsignor Séraphin Many, Auditor of the Roman Rota in the Roman Curia, from 1912 to 1922, when he assumed Many's position on 15 September. Bernard Jullien
Bernard Jullien (2 February 1798, Paris - 15 October 1881, Paris) was a French teacher, novelist and linguist. Life Jullien went to school in Versailles and began his teaching career at the Collège Sainte-Barbe. He then taught in Dieppe (1831-1835) and finally Paris. In 1836 he graduated from the Sorbonne under Joseph Victor Leclerc with a thesis on Aristotle's ''Physics'' (published in 1854 as his book ''De quelques points des sciences dans l'antiquité'') and ''Sur l'étude et l'enseignement de la grammaire'' (Paris 1836). He later also earned a degree in natural sciences. Jullien was most notable as an author of grammatical and literary textbooks for schools for the publisher Louis Hachette. Frédéric Benoît Victoire Jullien (13 April 1785 – 28 August 1825) was a French officer. Unlike his elder brothers, General Louis Joseph Victor Jullien de Bidon and Captain Thomas Prosper Jullien, he made his name under the Bourbon Restoration. Early life Jullien was born on 13 April 1785 in the Comtat Venaissin enclave of the Papal States. Military career In August 1807 he was made a lieutenant in Italy and on 8 May 1809 he fought in the Battle of Piave River. While crossing the river during the battle he received a sabre cut across his right cheek, stretching from his ear to his upper lip. In April 1809 the second Austrian campaign began and despite his wound, Jullien rejoined his unit in Germany that July. He was made a captain in the 28th Dragoon Regiment of the Grande Armée in August, at Graz in Styria. Gilles Jullien (c. 1651/165314 September 1703) was a French Baroque composer and organist. He is credited with bringing the style of French organ music then current in Paris to Chartres.Apel 1973, 734. Almost nothing is known about Jullien's life or training. His burial certificate indicates he was 50 or slightly younger when he died, so he must have been born between 1651 and 1653. It is assumed that he became organist of the Chartres Cathedral on 6 December 1667. The date is questionable, but the fact that Jullien was appointed organist of the cathedral while still very young is indisputable. He occupied this position until his death in Chartres in 1703. He was succeeded at the cathedral by his eldest son, Jean-François Jullien. All of Jullien's surviving music is contained in his ''Premier Livre d'orgue'' (Paris, 1690).
